Has anyone besides me read any Jasper Fforde? Extremely smart but goofy fun. The Eyre Affair is the first in the main series he writes. It's as if Douglas
Adams were an English major as opposed to being more into science.

Just started the first book of the Malazan series <3
it'll probably take me 10 years to get through the whole series though. |

So far this month, I've read Gaudy Night -- a very old murder mystery which as a bit wordy but good; Attack of the Killer Road Weenies --
my son told me I had to read it and it is good for 12 year olds; Sarah's Key - I liked it for two-thirds of the book and then it lost me; The
Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society -- very good, I especially liked the writing style; and Cracking India -- very interesting.

I'm pretty close to finishing Aztec, by Gary Jennings.
Then I'll probably try to tackle Underworld. |

I read both Gaudy Night and Aztec years ago, but can't remember a thing about either of them.

Aztec is kind of like a Michener book with a lot of freaky sex.

I read Aztec when I was like 12. I loved it; it was so epic.

That what my ninth grade classmate who recommended it said, except for the Michener part.

Blind Eye, Stuart MacBride. Gory and funny and set in Aberdeen.

The Angel's Game by Zafon, The Great Perhaps by Joe Meno and The Thief and the Dancer by Antonio Skarmeta. Loved Thief, I think Angel's Game is
actually a lot better than the overrated Shadow of the Wind, and the Great Perhaps is pretty funny...but I'm only halfway through that one.

Yeah, same here. First two were pretty good, but didn't really sustain my interest after that. Not sure I even finished "Well of Lost Plots".
