I have a weakness for stories within stories, especially when they include references to mythology, history, and poetry. Anyway, the writing was seriously incredible and, more importantly, it was a damn good tale. (Which is pretty much all I'm looking for).

MsJones, yes, I did read Firefly Lane. It was a good airplane book...there wasn't too much thinking involved. :)
Kindle peeps--do you guys have covers for your Kindles? Any recommendations? |

I have an M edge platform. I like it because I can prop it up on my lap in bed and the cover folds back nice and easy. I also have a little laptop case I
bought in Target to zip it into for my bag.

I got my Kindle last night for my birthday. OMG, it is awesome. I downloaded a few books right away. My first impression was that I couldn't believe how
small the thing is. The biggest issue I had was witth the page flash when you turn the page. I seriously thought there was no way I could live with it. But I
read about 50 pages last night and I don't notice it anymore. I am still learning to navigate the thing (ie, when I bookmark a page how the HELL do I get
back to where I just was? Is it "sync to last page read?".
Anyway, two thumbs up...though I'm terrified of dropping or otherwise breaking the thing. You can be much more careless with regular old books. |

Make sure you get all the free books! I still haven't figured out the bookmark thing but then again I haven't tried very hard. Go to Kindle Boards if
you want all the anal retentive details. I'm sure it would be there somewhere.

Does the Kindle have removable storage?

Not the new ones, not that I see the point when you can hold way more books than you can read on the thing. You can move stuff onto it thru USB if you
don't want everything on it all the time.

I don't think so, Ill, but WTF do I know? I just got the thing.
Thanks Gina...I will do that. |

I dropped a 2GB SD card in my Sony Reader and can now carry like an entire library with me or some shit.
It's great......and total overkill. |

Oh, sorry.....you're totally all set.
Besides....the Kindle does like 10 things the Sony can't. |

There should be no reason for remorse because it's fucking awesome.

AnAlanSmitheeFilm wrote:Atlantic for the moment. ILL gave me some suggestions, I am ashamed to say I haven't actually motivated to check them out yet, but I have them written down somewhere.... I just read "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman over the weekend. THAT IS SOME GOOD SHIT RIGHT THERE. And yeah it's probably 10 years old, I'm late to the party as usual. |

Has anyone read Alain de Botton? I'm wondering whether to buy/borrow one of his books.
