Maybe worse than Wanted. You know the scene (in every movie like this) where the main characters get in a fight and go off alone and it's all emotional but then they eventually realize friendship trumps all and make up? The amount of time from the fight to the makeup in this movie is less than 40 seconds <3. Thank god the movie as a whole was only an hour. Oh, also, the retarded dinosaur hatches from a tiny egg and is then bigger than Littlefoot in the very next scene.

I used to love those movies whence I was little. Me and this girl my mom babysat would play out the movie and I will littlefoot and she was Sara it was true love <3

My friends and I just had a bet a couple of nights ago on how many Land Before Time movies there were and I won. I guessed 13. I only watched till like the 5th installment. GL with this!

The Land Before Time
1988, Directed by Don Bluth

The words "greatest film of all time" get thrown around a lot these days, usually in this decade when speaking of the whatever the most recent Vin Diesel movie was, but few movies are truly worthy of the praise. This all changed in the fall of 1988 and the release of The Land Before Time.

The film opens with the shocking death of Littlefoot's mother, a wholly original idea in animated fare. I would hope it's due to this tragedy that Littlefoot is the whiniest, most self-righteous douche to headline a childrens adventure until Hey Arnold. Despite knowing that his mother was killed and he is now all alone, Littlefoot's grandparents just go to the Great Valley without him I guess, I don't know, I missed the first 10 minutes. He then meets yet another adult dinosaur who could help him but doesn't, telling him to deal with it basically then leaving. According to wikipedia, this "remains one of the most poignant passages of the film" despite brutal competition from other scenes to come.

At this point, about half the movie is spent showing Littlefoot running into the other four and joining with them while nothing happens at all.

Despite a complete lack of plot, nothing in the film makes sense, and it's edited horribly. At one point it cuts to Cera being chased by a bunch of minority dinosaur gangbangers with absolutely no lead up whatsoever. Apparently George Lucas and Steven Spielberg had something to do with this and demanded a full 10 minutes be cut from the film's admittedly bloated running time of 60 minutes due a concern about the "psychological damage" (no, seriously) the movie could have on the nation's youth. It is rumored that this included the highly controversial Petrie rape scene, but that is of this writing unconfirmed.

Anyway, after walking around for 30 minutes (1 minute of which features the psychological torment of Littlefoot and Cera having an argument about whether or not Littlefoot's mother was a whore or something. They are honestly the most annoying romantic leads of any movie ever.) they find the magical forest. Their parents make a good effort to hide their disappointment at the revelation that their unbearable children are not dead after all, and the film ends.

In conclusion, The Land Before Time 1 will stand the test of time as one of the msot touching films ever released. It is fully worthy of a rating of 9 ROARING CERAS OUT OF 10

I just recently pulled this video out to watch with my three year old daughter and a flood of emotions surged through my veins. What a masterpiece this truly is! Dinosaurs are a species of animals that have always had a dramatic allure and fascination in regard to younger individuals, and what better way to instruct children in the many aspects of life via a movie of this description? Although some scenes are a bit heavy (i.e. the extremely tragic death of Littlefoot's mother-- a scene that still brings !!+$% to my eyes) there are many others that completely compensate. This movie is heart-warming. Children will definitely become attached to the five main characters in this story and identify with them-- the courageous leader Littlefoot, the tempestuous and firey Cera, the innocent and meek Ducky, the comedic and playful Petrie, and the silent and cute Spike. Complete with a gorgeous soundtrack, primarily the beautiful ballad performed by Diana Ross, this is a definitive film pertaining to all aspects of life, one to be enjoyed for eons.

This is the first video that I have watched that I was absolutely appauled by its content, especially for 5 year olds and under. We began the first 3 years of our childs life with storybooks. Now we have begun viewing some of the videos from the books we have read. The Disney movies stay pretty true to the text in the books. I was amazed at how different The Land Before Time video was from the book. The video contained a lot of prejudice, sarcastic remarks from the adult dinosaurs and the young dinosaurs, in which young children viewing this video should not be hearing (they mimic what they hear, proven fact) Even as I sat and watched the video (which I always do, to explain the conflicts) it was hard keeping up with all the negative, violent scenes. People wonder why children talk and act the way they do.....This video is a prime example. I will be the first to champion that it is parents responsibility to teach their kids right from wrong, empathy, respect, and kindness. But videos like this one (which I am sure, some parents think can run unsupervised), is a big mistake. I will not recommend any of these videos to any of my friends. Very disappointed...I only give it 1 star, because the only redeeming character is Duckie.

I have 22 years old right now......i see this DVD on Theater first, in 1988....It make me cry at that age, and now, i cry sometimes, specially at the end when they found the green valley, it's a awesome movie......the MUSIC is incredible....specially the last classical tune of the movie and the DIANA ross performance...i recommend this movie to everyone, i have a niece and I buy this DVD for him, the film is GREAT....

A Kid's Review

I know alot of people think this is the best one out of all of them, but I think this is too intense, and Little Foot seems snobby in this sequil. I am glad they made more of these movies. (...)I know there are many other older people who love the series.

Ooh, I haven't seen one of these movies in like ten years. From what I can remember, the first one was great, the second was decent, and the rest were terrible!
