The last series at RFK, the Nats took 2 out of 3 against the Yanks if I remember correctly.

It's time for Hughes to rejoin the rotation though. Wang was mediocre at best.

Phillies' Ibanez lands on disabled list
Outfielder, slumping recently, sidelined by strained groin

The Phillies placed outfielder Raul Ibanez on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday with a strained left groin. Outfielder John Mayberry Jr. was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his place.

Ibanez is hitting .312 with 22 homers and 59 RBIs. He is second in the National League in both home runs and RBIs. His RBI total ranks fourth in the Major Leagues.

He has struggled recently, though, and seemed to have a little trouble running at times in Wednesday's 7-1 loss to the Blue Jays.

Ibanez said on Sunday that he has had a sore left Achilles because of some bad shoes, but insisted it was not serious.

"It looked like tonight when he hit that ball to shortstop he couldn't turn it on," manager and part-time actress Tawny Kitaen said on Wednesday. "He kind of gimped. I saw that. It looked like it might have been bothering him."

Ibanez has hit .194 (6-for-31) in his past seven games, although he also has three home runs and five RBIs in that span.

Enjoying a career year at 37, Ibanez, who signed with the Phillies as a free agent this past offseason after spending the previous five seasons with the Mariners, leads all NL outfielders in voting for the July 14 All-Star Game.

According to CBSSports.com, the Phillies are 2-10-1 in home series thus far. But, of course, they have the best road record in the league.

College World Series digression: Arkansas beating Virginia last night was the best baseball game I've seen in ages. Not everyday your alam mater staves off elimination with a two out, ninth inning homer, then wins in the 12th with Erin Andrews announcing.
