Ugh why didn't Ken Macha leave Mitch Stetter, who has been mowing down lefties, in to face Travis Hafner? Then he could have brought in Hoffman. Dumb move.

I mean, Hafner was leading off the 9th and Hoffman has pitched three days in a row. He should have left Stetter in for that one batter and then brought Hoffman
in for the final 2 outs. Doesn't matter, they won anyway. But Hoffman did walk Hafner.

By Michael Sillup
June 16 (Bloomberg) -- Sammy Sosa, the No. 6 home run hitter in Major League Baseball history, tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug in 2003, the New York Times reported, citing lawyers with knowledge of drug-test results. Sosa, who joined with Mark McGwire in a chase of baseball's single-season home-run record in 1998, was a member of the Chicago Cubs the year of the positive test. |

Well ok then...now that Sosa's been outed, I can say without a doubt that he doesn't deserve to be in the HOF.
Please note that my quote above was made about 2 weeks ago. At that time, he HAD NOT been named, EVER, on any list. There was only speculation. ps fuck you cubs for waiting until people got to the ballpark and started spending buttloads of money on concessions before calling the game tonight. Fuck you right in the ear! |

They won't make the HOF. Maybe during their last 5 years of eligibility or vets committee. Lofton? Please....

I want to see Lofton voted in to the HOF just to see what hat he'd wear to the ceremony.

We might have seen the last of the 300 game winners in Randy Johnson. Aside from that, we'll start to see pitchers get in that don't have 300 wins.
Like Pedro Martinez.
I don't think Cone is a HOFer. But in 15 - 20 years, you never know who the HOF voters might vote in. The Steroid Era is knocking off HOFer after HOFer. |

Anyone thinking Cone is not deserving of the HOF is an idiot. Same for anyone thinking Paul O'Neill is not HOF worthy.

Percentage of votes received in first year of eligibility. Appearing on less than 5% of ballots disqualifies you from future voting.
2007 Paul O'Neill 2.2% 2009 David Cone 3.9% Not that they weren't both terrific players but neither of them have "vote for them or you're an idiot"-level stats. The 90s Yankees will have Jeter, Rivera, Williams and Torre. |
