It's possible Simon calling the night for Archie was a ploy. Anyway, Season 7 RIP.

While they may have pimped Archie in the beginning, it's obvious that for MANY REASONS they wanted Cook to win.

It's possible Simon calling the night for Archie was a ploy.Could be true -- but that doesn't square with his apology to Cook right before the winner was announced. I don't understand why he would do that if he really wanted Cook to win all along. If Archuleta won, we would all blame the judges for overpimping him on Finale night. That's the problem with all three of those judges -- they ALWAYS seem like they have ulterior motives -- especially Randy. But this format works for the AI execs since they're all making bucketloads of money. |

But if it was his intention to look wrong on purpose -- why would he care? And don't you duh me!

maybe he thought if you sing second you win? he wanted cook to win so maybe it was just reverse psychology anyway

Did anybody else find it GENIUS that the moment Cook was announced the winner, he drew attention back on to Porkchop? I know he meant it out of respect, but
all it did was draw everybody's attention to the Archie's crestfallen, defeated and losing face. Everybody looked him at once for the first time as a
loser. And his exit was even better! It was like he was pulled off by an invisible hook. Im surprised we didnt see strings as daddy reeled in his little
marionette to give it a proper buffing for losing the competition.

I have mixed feelings about the ploy theory. I considered it, but when I watched the show, I definitely picked up (for the first time) some actual energy from
the demon child - something he lacked all season long. Probably because Papa Porkchop wasn't rehearsing him to death backstage this time. In comparison,
Cook went for a more introspective, quiet confidence thing. I can see how that could have distorted Simon's perception of the performances.

He apologized so he didn't have to do damage control when Cook won. So nobody after the show had to ask him why he called it a "knockout" for
Archie. (Wink, wink)
There is NO WAY they wanted Cook to lose. He's the winner and in an upset landslide at that. Win/Win. |

I pretty much felt the same way as sigvold (hillarious videos BTW).
I didn't really mind him in the beginning but I felt he was starting to get really overrated after he sang Imagine. And I thought his "aw shucks" attitude was a bit over the top and that was a little annoying as well. I'm happy Cook won because he had alot more mind-blowing performances and reading the Archuleta fans breakdown posts are hillarious. Archuleta can definitely sing though; he'll probably make it in Disney.

I'll bet Daddy literally took a switch to David's backside and tanned it but good. "That'll show you to drag us into this show for MONTHS and
then LOSE LOSE LOSE!"

Um, he was grinning to fight back the look of PANIC at having to see Daddy when he got backstage. Are you saying he wasn't disappointed? He had been
programmed to win.
