So I can understand if you all want to kick me out of the thread for saying this, but I think "Memory" is my favorite Jason performance since the top 12. Go ahead, laugh :]

Can't comment on Jason's performance as I haven't seen it yet and I'm leaving on vacation early tomorrow so I doubt I'll have time to watch
anytime soon. The way I feel is if he leaves, he leaves. I want him to stick around a few more weeks but if this is the end of his run, he has the tour to
look forward to and hopefully a nice Indy record deal!

I have been a fan of Jason's for the entire season (he is second only to my beloved Cookie!), BUT last night's performance was horrendous. It was
painful to watch and painful to hear. I can only hope that he lasts another week. Prepare yourself, Jason....bottom 2 or 3 it is for tonight. He had better
be praying that his fanbase voted like mad for him!

I noticed a little weakness in the lower range. That is no doubt from his pneumonia. He did better than some of the sick girls did back in Feb when they had the bronchitis. Yet he was still able to sing without coughing or his voice completely going, so to call it painful or a trainwreck was completely overreacting. The girls were given a free pass and Paula spent ten minutes saying how sick they were. For Jason, they just want him off so we get the big conversation between Ryan and Simon about how no one should vote for Jason. So typical when they want to throw someone under a bus because they are a threat to their CHOSEN ONE. |

Don't get me wrong, Matinee, I am a huge fan of Jason's but that song was completely the wrong choice for him. Pneumonia or not (and I sincerely hope
he is feeling better!), he was going to struggle this week regardless. He does not have the voice for Broadway and that is not saying he has a bad voice. His
voice is unique and I thoroughly enjoy hearing him sing. BUT, Broadway requires range, power, and a depth of vocal ability that Jason simply does not have.
When he is in his niche, he is amazing. Last night was not his niche, he chose the absolute wrong song and it showed his weaknesses as a vocalist. Simple as
that.

It's sad to say that I agree on the whole Paula vs. Simon thing.

I think I "get" him as well as anyone else, but I still think that was a trainwreck. And it's a shame too, because I think with just a few
tweaks, it could've been one of the best of the night.
First, I like the style he sang it in, it could really work on a song like that. But I really feel his biggest mistake was with the lyrics. Maybe none of the lyrics would've worked right, but the ones he chose to sing definitely didn't fit him. How can he realistically sing about missing when he used to be beautiful? It was uncomfortable. His straining vocals didn't help matters. He's usually better and I realize he was sick so I can give him a pass on that, though I think even if he were not sick at all he might've been better served with singing an even softer arrangement where he couldn't possibly have strained while singing. Anyway, still, I hope he's safe tonight! |

He has pneumonia.Shit. Maybe I had better hope he does go home. He's not going to win anyway, and I'd hate for him to really jeopardize his health because *I* wanna hear him tear up Cracklin' Rosie. Sounds like he needs rest. Oh, and that spoiler/rumor - I have a really hard time believing Ryan Seacrest is that stupid. |

Pneumonia doesn't have to be that bad. My boss has it and she was at work today. She doesn't have to sing though....
Maybe Ryan will get fired. Anyone can say This..................................................................is Ameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerican Idol. |
