I can't remember/wasn't impressed by most of the rest of the girls.
She could get into the Top 10 but not highly likely. If she does, ti will be by a hair.

Jessica has one thing the other pussies don't. Exposure. People know her story well and her drive.

I would imagine...through some crazy twist of fate (read: producers) Jessica ends up in the "weak" group for the semis.
I don't know who exactly you'd call weak...but she probably won't be in the same group as the Pigotts, Mookie, and all the other "wow" people. |

The only thing I got from last night was the need to accept ugly and unstable in order to get talent. |

smartguy I don't think the show even cares for Jessica, I think they just put her in the Top 24 to shut people up. If she doesn't make Top 10 it's
out of the shows hands and people can't blame them for it, they put her through to the voting rounds.

I hope Jessica doesn't make the top 10. I would laugh if Lisa Bell or Marie-Pierre made it instead.

It's official that it is a Top 10 and not a 12. I don't know if this has been posted/mentioned anywhere. This is from the OS.
Voting tips and times for Top 24 Performance ShowsUpdated Fri. Jun. 20 2008 4:29 PM ET The Canadian Idol judges have done their part, now it's Canada's turn. Voting begins Monday after the first Top 24 performance show and you must vote in order to have a say in who's going to spend the summer representing Canada in the Top 10. Fourteen competitors will be eliminated in the next three weeks so make sure you vote to keep your favourite competitor on the show! The groups will be mixed with guys and gals, and will change each week, so you have to tune in every episode to see who takes the stage. For the Top 24 episodes that will air over the next three weeks, voting will take place in a two-hour window immediately following Monday and Tuesday's live performance show broadcasts in each region of the country. Results will be announced Wednesday nights on CTV. |

i like the idea of mixed groups. it'll keep everyone on their toes. eff the gender split, it should be like this every year.

I very much agree Strahlx, let the dice fall where they may. |

So, I'm guessing maybe 2 or 3 girls will now make the top 10.

Ugh, 14 people going in 3 weeks is ridiculous. Why can't they just do a top 12?

Time contraints Louie, the show would run into the new fall season and end around the end of Sept.
I think 2 girls tops will make it to the 10 PJ, I'll be shocked if there is 3 or more. |

I'm rooting for the black people just on principle and for laffos.
F2 please. I know it's the impossible dream. |

it's about time we get a black winner, and those two are both amazing, i would be very satisfied with either winning

A Top 12 with double eliminations in the first two weeks would be better than just a Top 10.
I like the mixed groups idea too and switching up every week. I'm guessing they're going to eliminate lowest vote getters overall and not lowest from each group, or at least I hope they are. I don't want to see people getting screwed or getting through easier based on how the groups are week to week. lowest 4 of the entire 24 should go each week. I'm guessing 3 girls maximum in the Top 10, but most likely only 2. There will only be more girls if the producers want to include more girls so they don't have to hear cries of sexism. I won't whine about sexism unless the girls performances warrant more of them making it over the guys. At this point I like more guys better but if some guys choke and some girls excel and the guys make it through over the girls anyway, I'll be pissed. I want it to be about talent, but it never is with the way people vote for this show. White, middle class, female, tweens RUIN Canadian Idol, as do Newfoundlanders and others from the Maritimes who vote regionally and Asians who vote for only Asians, except since there are no Asians this year we don't really have to worry about the latter. |

i can see jessica, tetiana, katelyn and amberly making the top 10
a top 12 would be cool, but i'm content with a top 10. i'm not a fan of more then one person being eliminated once the top 10/12 starts, so if we have to get rid of three in week one of the semi's, im cool with that. i don't think the females are that screwed. if there are a lot of guys in a group the votes will be spread out more between them, right? then again, if 6 people leave in week one, i can also see about 4 girls getting the axe too ... so we'll just have to see i suppse 0_o |

Amberly and Katelyn...thats all I really ask for as far as females. There's a couple more I'd like to see, but I only really want those two.

Jessica is standing out to me now. I am back and forth with her, she is so divisive. She is the only girl that stands out for me, BUT, that could be
because I know her from last year so I feel a familiarity towards her that I don't for the rest of the vaginas.
I just like that she appears hungry for the challenge. I like people who want to be there badly. |

It's hard to say, I don't know all 33 million people in Canada. I don't think the voting is particularly racist. I just think most of the audience
is white people who don't enjoy R&B and that is usually the style the black contestants on the show sing, same goes for Omar and Lisa who probably
won't be voted into the Top 10. If more people who liked R&B made up the core voting audience more of those type of contestants might make it through.
Also I'm going to guess that less minorities try out for the show. It's a two way street though, if it is racism it's not just white people who don't want to see black people on the show. I was talking to a Jamaican girl at work and we were talking about TV and she was like "I don't watch Canadian Idol, it's lame" and I was like "why?" and she was like "it's all white people, they don't have enough black people." Like really, why does that stop you from watching the show. Either you're also racist and don't want to root for white people or like I said, it's just a matter of not liking that type of music. She might not just be into the more folky-pop/rock direction the show has taken. I just hate to hear "omg Canada is racist," yes some Canadians are racist just like some people in every Country are racist but I don't believe racism is the reason there aren't as many black contestants or minorities or why they don't get voted it. I don't think that many people honestly think, "hmmm this person is black so I'm not going to vote for them" or "oh this person is white, I'm not voting for them." |
