It's a shame cause we do have a musical identity that is different than America but I guess that's dying out now.

The ratings have been going down. If it continues to go down next year, I think once the contract is up for Season 8, it will be the end of Idol. There
isn't any media interest in this show at all and its cultural impact is that of the weather network. It's there, you sometimes flip to see what is on,
but ultimately, if it disappeared, you wouldn't give a toss.

Miki it's not Canada's musical identity that did this season in, it's who the judges put through and the regional voting/non-voting bs. I had a
great time with you guys watching this season, but when you Canadians lost interest and barely posted, the ennui enveloped me as well. The DC/SHC fights were
still pretty good though.

smartguy24 wrote: I actually love TWN. But most don't care for it really and so I used it as an example. I personally like to know how Stephenville, NL got the most snow and how Richmond, BC got such and such amount of rain. I also like the local forecasts and the world forecasts and you see how hot it is in Dubai when it's -30 here and your freezing your tatas off. It kills time........kinda like Idol. I think I watch too much Big Brother UK cause toss is a term there for you wouldn't give a shit or care. I've been watching it for years so you pick up on the lingo fast and use it and don't realize you are. lol. Dags, it happens almost every year, everyone just loses interest but last year, there was more activity and interest still at this point in the comp. This year it's been a bit boring. I've said that since the Top 10 got revealed. Too many safe and predictable choices. |

Happy Belated B-Day DC. It gave me bad memories of cold temperatures watching that Weather Network clip.
I found her bio on CP24: http://www.cp24.com/servl...t/20080806/?hub=CP24About I don't think she appears on City though. I think she is strictly CP24 staff and I think CP24 is just for the Toronto and greater area. I'm not sure if they have various CP24s for all the major metro cities.

Is Mitch Macdonald a no talent Chris Richardson type?

CP24 is better than the weather network. Although I would argue that TWN has more cultural impact than CI. I bet more people in Canada know the weather network
anchors than the CI winners.

Someone posted a ranking thread on the CI board and I got in a ranking mood. So now that the season is pretty much over here are some rankings.
My end of season ranking of the Top 10 competitors: 1. Amberly Thiessen 2. Mookie Morris 3. Earl Stevenson 4. Theo Tams 5. Mitch McDonald 6. Katherine St. Laurent 7. Adam Castelli 8. Sebastian Piggott 9. Mark Day 10. Drew Wright My Top 10 favourite CI contestants of all time: 1. Amberly Thiessen 2. Theresa Sokyrka 3. Nancy Silverman 4. Keith MacPherson 5. Eva Avila 6. Carly Rae Jepsen 7. Billy Klippert 8. Mookie Morris 9. Melissa O'Neil 10. Earl Stevenson My Top 20 favourite CI performances of all time: 1. Theresa Sokyrka "Song For A Winter's Night" 2. Theresa Sokyrka "Good Mother 3. Amberly Thiessen "Redemption Song" 4. Nancy Silverman "Could I Be Your Girl" 5. Eva Avila "How Come You Don't Call Me" 6. Katelyn Dawn "Zombie 7. Melissa O'Neil "When I Fall" 8. Keith MacPherson "Collide" 9. Gary Morrissette "Mr. Bojangles" 10. Mookie Morris "Naieve" 11. Carly Rae Jepsen "Sweet Ones" 12. Theresa Sokyrka "Crusin'" 13. Nancy Silverman "Stupid" 14. Earl Stevenson "All Along The Watchtower" 15. Earl Stevenson "Two" 16. Casey LeBlanc "I'll Stand By You" 17. Amberly Thiessen "Everything I Own" 18. Adam Castelli "If I Were A Carpenter" 19. Elena Juatco "Mary Jane" 20. Theo Tams "No Woman, No Cry" The above list was just an off the top of my head kind of thing so if I went through every performance from every season of CI it might come out a little different but the list looks pretty good to me. I didn't rank on technical ability or anything, those are just the performances over the past 6 seasons that I personally enjoyed the most. |

Now they've got a bunch of new people...but the ones off the top of my head I distinctly remember who may or may not be still with TWN: Chris St. Clair - Every Saturday morning during the winter CSC was my TV buddy Kim MacDonald Shelley Steeves - east coast Oga Nwobosi - west coast Anne-Marie Sweeney - HATE her. Sheryl Plouffe Yep, I definitely watch too much Weather Network. |
