Oooh, boy, I know I am going get dead to some people tonight.

What I thought:

1-2. Amberly: Best vocal of the night. She felt the song, or made me think she did. Noted that it's interesting how it is a girl who is perfecting the CFM look at the cameras.
1-2. Mookie: Best performance of the night. I just loved his ease on stage, in the audience, and again his cool vibe. For his age? Pretty damn good. Take on song was not derivative at all and it so could have been.
3. Theo: Great voice, loved that he got out from behind the piano. Points taken for not opening his eyes enough and, when he did, not connecting with either the audience or camera.
4. Drew: A- performance, B+ vocals. Didn't love the song choice, but it worked enough to put him in my top 4 for the night.
5. Katherine: Her voice is so awesome, but her delivery so just too one-level energy-wise and generic. She doesn't get this song at all.
6. Earl: This was just really weird for me. I wasn't crazy about the happy arrangement, and I hated the ending. Took the passion out of the song. Again with the eyes closed too much. Yet, there is something compelling about watching him--it's like he isn't even aware he is performing for anyone except himself.
7. Mitch: Super rough start and when he finally settled down the whole thing was just too relentlessly nasally.
8. Sebastian: Really out of tune for the first 3rd of the song, and really had no power through the whole song. I think I liked this performance of his the best to date, though, because toward the end I could hear something resembling singing. Nice to look at, but my least favorite.

And in his own category: Mark!
: he gets the pimp spot, like he earned it or needs it, right? Also, wtf was he wiping away at the end? I didn't see any %@*%! or glistening eyes? Symapthy vote whore.
But I didn't hate him tonight, so maybe that will work against him that he wasn't a train wreck and providing entertainment. Still, a million people could have sung that song as well or better than he did. And I really hated how girly he sounded on the last part. Ew.
I should rank him above Mitch and Sebastian, but I just can't.

This may end up a double post, but I just read this and OMG thank you so much, SG, it was driving me crazy trying to think of who he reminded me!
