I Can't Say I'm Sorry - Ummm my first thought is that Theo's voice sounds really weird on this track. Maybe I'm crazy but I do not remember his voice sounding like this on Idol, I don't like it at all. It seems stripped of everything nuanced and wonderful. Interestingly, I didn't pick up on this on my first listen (just too darned excited, I think), but a friend of mine did. Second time around, I noticed it. His voice definitely isn't as pure as it is on other songs on this CD (and it's not him but whatever they have done to it in production), but it is still a fun song. I'm glad they didn't select this one as his first single though (as they had been debating between this and Lazy Lovers).

Would it surprise you to know that this song has apparently been a Number One hit in two different European countries by two different artists? Danish singer Bryan Rice (Brian Risberg Clausen) and Erik Segerstedt who was runner-up on Season 3 of the Swedish version of Idol both recorded versions of it.

Let Go - His voice sounds normal to me on this one so that's a plus. I like this song a lot better too. I really like the melody and I like the piano on this one. On the above song the piano sounded lame and cheesy too, it sounds really nice in this song. I'd like to hear this one on the radio. Sarah Slean actually cowrote this song (with producer Greg Johnston) specifically for Theo. According to an article on the CTV site, "Slean had never co-written a song for anyone before but was inspired to do so after seeing Theo perform a cover of her tune "Sweet Ones" on Canadian Idol last summer."

Here We Go Again - I wasn't sure about this song upon hearing the intro but listening to the whole thing I actually quite like it. It's a perfect song for Theo, the kind of thing I would have imagined for him. It's fun and catchy. I really like the backup singing too. This is the kind of song I'd like to see Theo perform live in concert with his piano. It's slightly repetitive but again I'm not expecting lyrical genius on this first album with Sony BMG's paws all over it. I'd listen to it on the radio, maybe even request it, sing a long to it. 8/10

A lot of fans have felt this song has a kind of Mika-like vibe to it (although some older fans get more of a Beatles' Sgt. Pepper vibe).

Wait for You - This one reminded me a lot of a OneRepublic type song, and I love OneRepublic's album. It could be a single, maybe. I like the chorus most. This song is builds well, and I like that in a song. It didn't get repetitive and long for me like a few of the other songs. I wanted to listen to it all the way through. I like it as a whole. Theo had described this one to me as "Kind of Coldplay meets Ben Folds Five!" I could definitely see this one as a single although I think they will probably go for one of the faster ones for his next single. I'm guessing "Reckless" since it was highlighted on the album's sticker. That quite often indicates that the record company plans to release it. But this one, "Wait for You", is one of my faves on the CD.

So I have to say that I was a bit surprised (and pleased) by your review. I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to Theo, it is extremely hard for me to be completely objective. I can try, but it just doesn't fully happen. Nice to see that you gave him a fair shake on the CD (and you too, Miki - I haven't forgotten you) because I honestly think that overall, it's quite good, particularly for a debut CD.

And THAT is just the type of thing that I mean when I keep saying what a nice guy he truly is. That isn't done to sell CDs. It is done because that really is the type of person Theo is.

That's interesting considering Hawksley had nothing to do with this song. It was written by Theo, JC Smith, and Rupert Gayle.

Very pleasantly surprised to hear from the radio today about Shane and his wife. They have a new CD out and they now call themselves "The Wiebes".

I actually posted about this back on page 366, but I guess people went into shock to see me posting a non-Theo message. (Of course, my name on here should TELL you that I love Shane!) Got my copy just before the long weekend, and it is lovely. Shane and Angela sound amazing together.

In fact, if you happen to live in the Abbotsford area, you can attend the CD release concert on June 1.
