And I eye-contacted Ricky Muscat at some shopping mall too. I downloaded Theo's CD, and I LUUVVV it. But I'll post my review later whenever I"m ready. Won't be as elaborate/articulate as SHC's though.

LOVE
Let Go - My number 1 favourite. I agree on the maturity of the lyrics. I hope it's the next single. But considering it's track no. 11, I can only dream. Lazy Lovers - I thought this is the right choice for the first single, especially that Theo wants to showcase gay relationships too (as everyone can see on the video clip) Fair-Weather-Friend - The only decent upbeat song in the album IMO. Manhattan Blue - Another beautiful ballad. Sing - This is the best Canadian Idol's winner single for me, yep even more than "Alive" Still Try To Grow To Like: I'm Gonna Say - I hope this isn't considered ever as a single, I dont think it's great enough because the melody is samey with other 'funky' songs in general.. When I Said Goodbye - sounds like "Sing", but not as good. Dead Wrong Here We Go Again - It's very Hawksley Workman Can Live Without: Wait For You Reckless I Ain't Crying I Cant Say I'm Sorry |

I saw one of the bitches from The Weather Network at the mall when I worked there. Nobody recognized her.
I bought Theo's album from previewing it and it sounded great. I added to his first week sales. |

I ran into Alisha Nauth (I don't even know if anyone remembers her) and Billy Klippert (but that's cause I knew he was going to be their so I went to
check him out).
Now that AI is over I'm a little sad that there's no CI7 to follow. We'd probably get a Cookie appearance this year too. |

Natalie Thomas was the one I ran into from TWN. She didn't smile or anything.
The biggest celeb I've known someone run into was my cousin who has a loft in Toronto and his neighbour was Nelly Furtado. This was pre-Loose album days where she was popular but people didn't cause a stink about her if they saw her. They always chatted in the elevator and she would go to Kensington market a lot loooking very basic (no makeup or hair done) and just in sweats. She moved from there and probably now has a high security home in a posh area. Nelly also had a Portuguese doctor's office that I go to to keep open after hours so she could have her consultation without people bothering her. If I saw her there, I'd be all over her for a pic together so I understand comepletely. |

Wouldnt it be awkward/sad/creepy if you randomly bump into a semi-finalist from three or four seasons ago and ask them about CI?
unless you're froggurl of course |

I haven't run into anyone from CI, not even Raj.
I know someone who's seen 3 former contestants at the mall (one of them works there, lol). Theo's album being good YAYNESS! Now if only it would actually do well. |

This is Canada Miki, that's good for 99th. Plus it's going to be like 6 albums at least, Wiebe probably bought at least 2, the biggest fan girl will
want to see her name in the liner notes and I'm sure Theo's mom bought one. Make that 7 actually, $@!!@!+ AMBERLY will have purchased one.

suckshardcore wrote:Interestingly, I didn't pick up on this on my first listen (just too darned excited, I think), but a friend of mine did. Second time around, I noticed it. His voice definitely isn't as pure as it is on other songs on this CD (and it's not him but whatever they have done to it in production), but it is still a fun song. I'm glad they didn't select this one as his first single though (as they had been debating between this and Lazy Lovers). Would it surprise you to know that this song has apparently been a Number One hit in two different European countries by two different artists? Danish singer Bryan Rice (Brian Risberg Clausen) and Erik Segerstedt who was runner-up on Season 3 of the Swedish version of Idol both recorded versions of it. suckshardcore wrote:Sarah Slean actually cowrote this song (with producer Greg Johnston) specifically for Theo. According to an article on the CTV site, "Slean had never co-written a song for anyone before but was inspired to do so after seeing Theo perform a cover of her tune "Sweet Ones" on Canadian Idol last summer." suckshardcore wrote:A lot of fans have felt this song has a kind of Mika-like vibe to it (although some older fans get more of a Beatles' Sgt. Pepper vibe). suckshardcore wrote:Theo had described this one to me as "Kind of Coldplay meets Ben Folds Five!" I could definitely see this one as a single although I think they will probably go for one of the faster ones for his next single. I'm guessing "Reckless" since it was highlighted on the album's sticker. That quite often indicates that the record company plans to release it. But this one, "Wait for You", is one of my faves on the CD. So I have to say that I was a bit surprised (and pleased) by your review. I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to Theo, it is extremely hard for me to be completely objective. I can try, but it just doesn't fully happen. Nice to see that you gave him a fair shake on the CD (and you too, Miki - I haven't forgotten you) because I honestly think that overall, it's quite good, particularly for a debut CD. I'm not sure if you bought your copy as a physical CD or from iTunes, but in case you are curious, the songs that Theo cowrote are: I'm Gonna Say Lazy Lovers When I Said Goodbye Fair-Weather Friend Dead Wrong I Ain't Cryin' Here We Go Again suckshardcore wrote:And THAT is just the type of thing that I mean when I keep saying what a nice guy he truly is. That isn't done to sell CDs. It is done because that really is the type of person Theo is. kennethp21 wrote:That's interesting considering Hawksley had nothing to do with this song. It was written by Theo, JC Smith, and Rupert Gayle. BTW, thanks to those of you who have purchased the CD!!

So come now...you've admitted you like the CD and that it sounded great. Which songs are your faves? I am really curious to hear your thoughts. smartguy24 wrote: I meant would it surprise you that it had been #1 twice, not that it had been done by another Idol contestant. I know about them reusing songs sometimes. Fortunately, the rest of the songs on the CD were either cowritten by Theo or were written for him, and I think it shows in how well they fit with him. |

I like how Dwiebe didn't deny that she bought 50 copies.
I'm not exactly surprised a song has been a hit elsewhere. The music scenes/tastes are so different in every continent. |

Very pleasantly surprised to hear from the radio today about Shane and his wife. They have a new CD out and they now call themselves "The Wiebes".

(Of course, my name on here should TELL you that I love Shane!) Got my copy just before the long weekend, and it is lovely. Shane and Angela sound amazing together. In fact, if you happen to live in the Abbotsford area, you can attend the CD release concert on June 1. ETA: Shane and Ang were featured in the Abbotsford News Wiebes celebrate new CD
Abbotsford singer Shane Wiebe is getting ready to release a new album. The former Canadian Idol finalist recorded his first CD in 2005, which sold almost 10,000 copies nation-wide. And while it's been four years since that release, he is hoping the public is still hungry for his music. The new CD, Into Your Light, is a family project. Wiebe teamed up with his wife Angela to create the new recording. The album includes six new original pieces composed by the Wiebes as well as several cover tunes. The album was produced by Shane Wiebe and Steve Klassen "We worked together on his first album and have been great friends since. This new project has been a privilege to work on, and the end product is nothing short of phenomenal," says Klassen. Shane, having teamed up with his wife, are fittingly enough, calling themselves The Wiebes. "I know it's not the most creative name around Abbotsford, but hey, simple's good! Plus, this way as our kids grow up they'll be automatically drafted into the group," says Shane. "Angela has been incredibly supportive of my musical career over these past five years, but it's time everyone knows that she's the real musician in the family." Shane says that on top of singing brilliant vocals, Angela also plays violin and classical guitar "I didn't know it was possible, but this album has brought us even closer together," he admits. Shane and Angela have two children: three-year-old daughter Joelle, and one-year-old son, Josiah. Shane grew up in Abbotsford, attending Sevenoaks Alliance Church most of his life. His Christian music roots run deep. The album reaches back to those foundations featuring two hymns, In the Sweet By and By and Great is Thy Faithfulness. "Great is Thy Faithfulness was my grandma's favourite hymn. We always wanted to record it for her, but she passed away before the album was completed - I guess she'll just have to listen from heaven," says Angela. The Wiebes' CD release concert is set for June 1 at 7 p.m. Tickets are being sold at the House of James in Abbotsford, and the concert will be held at Immanuel Fellowship Baptist Church on the corner of Blue Jay and Old Yale. Deluxe tickets for the event include a copy of the Wiebes' new CD. For more information, visit: www.thewiebesmusic.com
