As for the person that said there wasn't any good R&B out there - yes there is. Like I said you gotta look for it as well.
Musiq Soulchild, Robin Thicke, Anthony Hamilton. You can never go wrong with some Jill Scott or Angie Stone either, and of course Lauryn Hill's music is just flawless. That new song by Eric Benet is my shit though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF9k2hGJzKI He's still a damn fool for cheating on Halle Berry, but the guy can sing. Get past Alicia Keys stuff on the radio, and her newest cd is just gold as well. |

Most of the American music on my player nowadays is from the mid to late 90's. A lot of current music I get is mainly British and Japanese.
Although I have to admit I love retro (1920's - ealry 90's), that's why a lot of my students look at me funny. |

What in the hell are you listening to from the 1920's?!?!

Supposed to be 30's, but I get a strange kick listening to Carmen Miranda singing "Boom Chica Chica Boom Chic" while going down the university
corridors.

Podunk Town wrote: Yes. She's just as good of a singer as her sister, and she actually doesn't suck! Too bad she didn't breakout the way Jessica's completely irrelevant and talentless sister did way back when. Anyway, if you need some good R&B, I'd recommend...
I don't know if I'd fully call it R&B, but it's damn good. Also check Solange out, who's really good if you can overlook her being apart of the Knowles clan. It's weird, I would not mind seeing her in concertm, but I would never buy a CD from her. Her music is generally awful but she performs them extremely well... 0.o

Oh Gawd!
I really like GreJu and Yeaster, but please stop pretending like you'd still pay attention to Beyonce, Rihanna and co. if they were 40 lbs heavier. Wanting to bone someone does not = good music. By that definition, Jessica Simpson would be the greatest artist of our times. |

Admittedly, I do like Rihanna, but I'm not a fan per say... I like the Rihanna "franchise," but not her as an artist (which she isn't, but
for argument's sake). She's completely talentless but she has some pretty good stuff already made for her. The perfect Rihanna song is whenever the
beat overshadows her terrible vocals. Rihanna's slow songs = me killing myself.
As far as Amerie is concerned...but I wouldn't care if she was 200Ibs, bald and full of acne, she'd still be my favorite artist. Her first song, "Why Don't We Fall in Love" was probably my favorite song ever when I first heard it, and I liked her months before I saw her video. She's hot as hell of course, but someone's looks doesn't make me automatically enjoy (or hate) their music. ...Unfortunately however...I do have friends who are like that... ("Omg he cut his hair??? Ewwwwww, I don't like him anymore!!!1!!1," or "She's 30??? She's OLD!1!1). |

I'm getting sick of mainstream American music until Katy Perry came.

Um, I actually do like Rihanna for her music more then her looks, although she is a beautiful girl.
But Beyonce, man, she can get it anytime she wants. |

oh no, whatever will you do now that you've tired of the tiny sampling of music that makes it to mainstream.
