In terms of pre-merge and post-merge which is the most entertaining AND at the same time has good strategy

Probably Outback is all around best. Never was there a more memorable cast. Definitely not the most strategically interesting season, but I remember every one
of those people and the way it was edited was amazing. You really felt like you were there.

You know...people always talked about Outback being the best but when I watched it I found it a bit boring.

I would have to say that Pearl Islands wins it for me. Pre-merge was really good, outcast twist totally threw a wrench in everyone's plans, and the post
merge was insane (people thought that Micronesia had great blindside? Pearl Islands was better imo). Really memorable, insane characters too.
Marquesas is second for me. Pre-merge by today's standards would not be considered that spectacular, but the Hunter boot was truly shocking at the time (Boston Rob helped redefine the game here), and the Gabe boot is still the biggest asshole move in Survivor history (reading some post-show interviews makes this move make a little more sense, but it was still the most jackass move ever made, and it turned out to be a game-breaker that, along with not throwing the next challenge, ultimately lost it for John and Tammy). The post-merge gets a little dry after John gets booted (that episode is amazingly edited to make us think that Neleh and Paschal might not flip, however, even though it was really obvious to the Rotu 4 that John was going that night, to the point that Zoe voted for him to try to save herself), but at the f5 it becomes crazy again, and even in the pagonging there are still some fun moments. China is third for me. Big characters, interesting premerge with Zhan Hu's disfunctionality, PG's challenge throwing, and Courtney, and interesting postmerge with the blindside trio (JR, Frosti, James), Todd, and Courtney. The only reason that China doesn't really rank higher is that, unlike the other two seasons, Todd was just too much better than everyone else out there, so there isn't as much tight strategic competition like there is in Pearl Islands or even Marquesas, where Kathy, Vee, John, Tammy, and Rob were all pretty evenly matched (none of them were particularly spectacular, but it was an early season, so there wasn't that much precedent to work off of in terms of how to play the game. They all made some great moves and some terrible moves that ultimately cost them the game, with the exception of Vee, who won some timely immunities that let her win the game). I haven't watched all of Micro, so I can't really comment on it, but people tend to say positive things about it. Amazon is actually another really strong season, in my opinion. A lot of crazy stuff happens, the premerge is solid (the fish catching challenge was hilarious, watching Matt outcatch the entire female tribe), and the post merge gets insane starting at 7 with the Alex boot. Rob Cesternino really changed how the game was played with his gameplay, and it's really too bad that he didn't win, he deserved it more than Jenna. |

I get longwinded when I am tired. Basically, PI is awesome, Marquesas is cool, and the Gabe boot was a really douchy move, China was great but would have been
better if there had been someone else to compete with Todd, and Amazon was good too. That is the mega-paraphrase of it.

I think Guatemala and Exile Island were both really good seasons. They both had interesting starts (Guat with the 11-mile hike, EI with the 4 tribe scenario),
and the final six in both seasons were extremely memorable. There were strategy in both seasons (Guat had the 'Axis of Evil' alliance, EI
had...well...Cirie) and they both ended with good triumphing over evil (Danni over Steph and Aras over Terry.)
