Eh. Isreal is our modern-day answer to Austra-Hungary to German Empire.
Aside from massive guilt trip, what is the long-term benefit of being Isreal's "steadfast" allies? I'm getting tired of Christians feeling obliged to ally with them because of prophecies. |

Israel has an independent judiciary that fucks the elected government and military over with decisions based on the rule of law. Show me one Islamic country on earth with any semblance of an independent judiciary, or legal code with an appeals process. You don't get killed for being a homo, women aren't owned by their spouses, and Muslims and Christians aren't prevented from practicing their faith by the state religion. |

Internationally the accepted definition of genocide is the intentional effort to eliminate a national, ethnic, racial or religious group. Just for perspective.

Israel would argue that it's not genocide because the palestinians couldve easily agreed to another cease fire but didn't, and since its a constant
war, that gives both sides the right to bomb the shit out of whoever they want. whether you think thats morally right is your opinion lol.
Additionally, just looking at smokeit's point about the jews in the united states pragmatically, these people cannot possibly represent more than a couple percentage points of the electorate. The real problem with support from the united states comes from the right wing and its religious members' dedication towards bringing about the rapture. there arent a lot of jews anywhere, i think its something like 2% in the US. the only difference between them and other major minorities is they are loud and obnoxious and will fight like dogs til they get their way. if people told them they couldnt speak hebrew/yiddish as their first language like thats happening with hispanics and spanish in this country theyd get into this big fucking uproar until that claim was stopped. theres a reason why so many jews become lawyers
i dont know if id say theyre as bad as the rest of the middle east though. it really depends how deep youre looking into it. arabs intentionally target innocent people where as for the most part (key words) israel avoids them if possible. and they dont teach kids in school to beat the shit out of any arab they see, unlike the arabs do. but thats for the most part, there are of course cases where they do piss on dead arabs that they just killed. |

Turkey is not an Islamic state, the party in power is an Islamic party, but the nation is secular, NOT Islamic.
When I was a travel nut in the 90s I visited Turkey, Lebanon, the West Bank, Egypt and then Israel. Turkey was the only country in the region where I was completely comfortable and liked the people. I like Jerusalem and Tel Aviv but Israel was not too interesting for me other than seeing Acre, but my love of everything Crusader was the reason I loved it so much.. |
