LEG 3 (Bolivia -- Greenland)
" I think the temperature’s gotten into your head... " - Nicole

Phil: Previously on The Amazing Race… Eleven teams set out on the second leg of the race. Early mistakes wasted valuable time for several of the teams.

Instructor: You did not follow the sample.
Nicholas: Man… We’re so screwed!
Jeffrey: This is NOT good. Come on. Let’s hurry..

Zoey: Dad! Where’s our pack?

Phil: As teams raced in Bolivia, tension rose between Brandon & Alexa who decided to go for the Fast Forward.

Brandon: Whatever, Alexa. If you want to go up against me, fine. But I’m not going to stoop to your level and retaliate.

Phil: It was a close fight to avoid elimination between Bryan & Kyle and Jeffrey & Ryan. Jeffrey & Ryan arrived last… but were relieved to find out they were spared the elimination. It was however, at a heavy price.

Phil: Will Jeffrey & Ryan be able to overcome their numerous penalties and surge ahead? Or will they finally run out of steam after 2 bad legs? One team is going home tonight. Who will be the 2nd team eliminated?

-Credits roll-

Phil: I’m standing in front of one of the most magnificent statues in Bolivia, the Cristo de la Concordia. This landmark monument in the image of Jesus Christ was the 2nd pit-stop in a race around the world.

Phil: Brandon & Alexa who were the first team to arrive at 7.56pm, will depart at 7.56am.

Brandon: Alright. Here we go again.
Alexa: Let’s see. Take a taxi to the Municipal Zoo.

Phil: Teams now have to take a taxi to the Municipal Zoo in Santa Cruz and search the entire zoo for one of three departure times, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm. There is only space for 3 teams for each of the first 2 flights and 5 for the last flight, departing 2 hours later than the first. In addition, teams may not change their timings after they have ripped it out.

Brandon: Let’s go look for a taxi then.
Alexa (conf): The blow up we had last leg was uncalled for. We’ve decided to put all relationship problems to during pit-stop rest time or after race.
Brandon (conf): Right now, we’re just focused on our race performance. And we’re doing pretty well at the moment.

-Michael & Tiffany depart at 9.14am-

Tiffany: Yay. We’re off to the Zoo.
Michael: Come on, Tiff. There’s the taxi we booked.

-Jenn & Nicole depart at 9.22am-

Nicole: Let’s get a taxi quick.
Jenn (conf): The race’s been pretty cool so far.
Nicole (conf): We’re definitely enjoying it much more than we thought we would.

-Dorothy & Lauren depart at 9.37am-

Dorothy: We’re gonna fly somewhere soon.
Lauren: Yeah I know. Isn’t it cool?
Dorothy (conf): Just being able to spend such quality time with my granddaughter is certainly equivalent to winning the race.

-Melissa & Sean depart at 9.39am-

Sean (conf): We’re definitely at the moment middle-of-the-pack people. And I’m not particularly proud of that achievement.
Melissa (conf): Sean always wants to dominate and just can’t seem to just enjoy the race sometimes.

-Henry & Florence depart at 9.40am-

Florence: Weird going to a zoo to look for a departure time, huh?
Henry: Yeah.
Florence (conf): So far we’ve been doing pretty well.
Henry (conf): We’re keeping up with these young, energetic people. So it’s a pretty good achievement for us.

-Jessica & Ashley depart at 9.58am-

Jessica: Ashley. We’re gonna be flying soon.
Ashley: Oh boy… I wonder where we’ll be going.
Jessica: Hopefully out of South America.

-Brandon & Alexa enter the zoo and found all 3 departure timings, thus choosing the best one-

Alexa: Good job, Brandon.

-Michael & Tiffany arrive at the zoo and also got the best timing. (1.30pm) Jenn & Nicole, similarly, have no problems with this task-

-Jason & Nicholas depart at 10.21am-

Nicholas: Come on. We’ve got lots of ground to catch up.
Jason (conf): 8th place really suck. We’ve got to make less mistakes or we’re gone.

-Thomas & Zoey departs at 10.23am-

Zoey: Alright. Come on. There’s plenty of taxis around this area, Dad.
Thomas: Remember to only rip out the timing you think it’s the earliest we can get.
Zoey: Roger that, Dad.

-Dorothy & Lauren, Melissa & Sean and Henry & Florence all arrive at roughly the same time at the zoo-

Dorothy: Go Lauren. We gotta get a departure time.

Florence: Damn. Footrace again.
Henry: Just run, Flo.

Melissa: Remember not to rip out any timings before confirming.
Sean: Yeah yeah. Come on, mom. Hurry up.

Lauren: Shoot, Gran. The 1.30’s finish. Next one’s probably 2.30 then. Pull that if you see it.

Florence: 2.30pm. Do we take it?
Henry: Umm.
Florence: I say we take it.
Henry: Alright, alright. I think you’re right.

Sean: 3.30pm.
Melissa: Wait. It may not be the earliest.
Sean: What if it is?
Melissa: Let’s look around first.
Sean: Others will take it once we go!
Melissa: Listen to me.
Sean: Nevermind. We’ll just take this.
Melissa: I hope you made a right decision, son.

Lauren: 2.30pm, gran.
Dorothy: Pull it!
Lauren: Alright. Now we got some time to burn.

Dorothy & Henry: 2.30pm.
Melissa: Told ya…
Sean: Shoot!
Sean (conf): I guess mom’s always right.
Melissa (conf): It just upsets me that my opinion is not taken into consideration.

-Bryan & Kyle depart at 10.39am-

Kyle: Come on. This leg’s all about hustling and moving fast.
Bryan (conf): We’re just sick of coming in 2nd last in and out of each leg. This next leg, we’re gonna do better.

-Jessica & Ashley arrive and pulled the 3.30pm flight as they thought there were no more earlier slots-

-Jeffrey & Ryan depart at 10.48am-

Ryan: Alright. No money for us.
Jeffrey: Let’s see. Thomas & Zoey left us 20 dollars.
Ryan: Ahh. Those guys are so sweet.
Jeffrey (conf): Thomas & Zoey were the only team to leave us money. We didn’t wanna ask any teams for money cos’ we know they all needed it too.
Ryan (conf): But for them to give us the money voluntarily… We really appreciate it and those 2 are probably the kindest racers in this race.

-Jason & Nicholas and Thomas & Zoey arrive at the zoo and rush to get the last 2.30pm slot. Jason & Nicholas got lucky and found it first-
Jason: Yeah. We’re at least not at the bottom anymore.
Nicholas: Awesome, man.

Thomas: Damn.
Zoey: We always miss things like this by the slightest margins.
Thomas: It’s okay, Zoey. We’ll catch up later.

-Both Bryan & Kyle and Jeffrey & Ryan got the last slot-

Phil: Teams are now on 3 separate charters to a mysterious destination. Teams will only find out that they are actually in Nuuk, Greenland once they land. Once they land, their pilot will hand them their next clue.

Phil: Teams on the first flight include Jenn & Nicole, Brandon & Alexa and Michael & Tiffany.

Teams on the second flight, leaving one hour later include Jason & Nicholas, Henry & Florence and Dorothy & Lauren.

Teams on the last flight, leaving two hours later than the first include Jeffrey & Ryan, Jessica & Ashley, Bryan & Kyle, Thomas & Zoey and Melissa & Sean.

-The first 3 teams arrives in Greenland-

Brandon: Oh my god. Are we where we think this is!?
Alexa: Greenland, baby!!
Alexa (conf): Being backpackers, Greenland is one of the few countries we’ve always wanted to visit.
Brandon: This is SO AWESOME.

Tiffany: Oh my god. It’s FREEZING.
Michael: Tell me about it.

Nicole: Wow. This place is like the north pole.
Jenn: I can’t even talk properly, Nicole.
Nicole (conf): Greenland is FREAKING cold.

Pilot: Here’s your next clue.
Brandon: Travel by snowmobiles to Disco Bay.
Alexa: Nice! Snowmobiles.

Jenn: Ooh. Are we gonna dance there?
Nicole: I think the temperature’s gotten into your head.

Tiffany: Wow. We get to go on snow mobiles.
Michael: There they are. Come on. Off to Disco Bay!

Florence: Where do you think we’re going?
Henry: I don’t know. I hope somewhere exotic.

Jason: We gotta rush today, Nick.
Nicholas: Yeah. No more suck-ish placings.

**on the 3rd plane**

Jeffrey: Oh man. We’re gonna have a 30-minute penalty on us for sure now.
Ryan: It’s over for us unless we get a lead over one of these teams for more than 30 minutes.
Jeffrey (conf): At that point, we knew the race was over for us unless we ran a flawless leg with another team in our group screwing up.

Zoey: Oh boy. I hope we’re not going somewhere cold.
Thomas: I hope not, baby.
Zoey (conf): I can withstand almost anything. Just not extreme cold.

Kyle: Isn’t this awesome? Not even knowing where we’re headed.
Bryan: It’s fantabulous.

-second plane lands-

Florence: Oh my fking god. Where are we?
Henry: Probably in Iceland or something.
Florence: It’s SO cold my pee will turn to ice.
Henry: That’s obscene.
Florence: But it’s so cold!!

Pilot: Here’s your next clue.

Jason: Alright. Let’s go to Disco Bay then.
Nicholas: These snowmobiles are awesome.

Lauren: Gran, you alright?
Dorothy: I’m fine. Just a little too cold for my taste.
Lauren: If you’re fine then let’s get moving then. Wohoo.

--scene cuts back to the 1st group of teams-

Tiffany: There’s the clue box.
Michael: Good spotting, honey.

Brandon: Alexa. Do you see the box?
Alexa: No. I don’t even see any other teams.
Brandon: That’s not a good sign…
Alexa: Let’s ask that guy.
Alexa to local: Disco Bay?
Local: You missed a turn about 5 minutes ago.
Alexa: Okay thanks.

Jenn: Oh my god, Nicole. We’re stuck in the snow.
Nicole: What…???
Jenn: Come on. We have to get it out.
Nicole (conf): The snowmobile was stuck down there pretty deep.
Jenn: I think we need to call for a replacement vehicle.
Nicole: That’s a lot of time wasted.
Jenn: I know.

Michael: Route Info.
Tiffany: Ride a dog slede!
Michael: Wow. This day just keeps getting better.

Phil: Teams will now have to ride on dog sleds and guide their dogs along a marked path, about 1km long, to their next clue.

Tiffany: This is like the single coolest thing I’ve done.

-Brandon & Alexa arrive shortly after-

Alexa: Route Info.
Brandon: Cool. We get to ride on dog sleds.
Alexa (conf): It was certainly an advantage to us since we rode dog sleds in Alaska a few times this year.

-Jenn & Nicole arrive about 10 minutes later-

Nicole: Nice. Dog sleds.
Jenn: Come on come on, Nicole. We gotta make up for lost time.
Nicole: Yes, mam!

Ryan: This is wicked sick!

Kyle: Welcome to Greenland, baby!

Zoey: Oh great. My worst nightmare.

Ashley: I think my hair just froze up.
Jessica: Come on come on. Go get our clue.

Melissa: Isn’t this cool?
Sean: Yeah. Everything’s white.
Melissa: Alright. Plenty of time for scenery gazing later. Let’s see where we’re off to.

All: Let’s go!

Tiffany: This is harder than it looks.
Michael: Shoot. It’s going the wrong way.
Tiffany (conf): Controlling dogs is so not our thing.
Michael (conf): Tell me about it. They kept going in circles.

Alexa: Is that Michael & Tiff?
Brandon: Yup. We caught up to them!
Alexa: Thanks to our dogs.
Brandon: Let’s pass em.

Tiffany: Nooo…
Michael: You guys watch out.
Brandon: It’s a race.
Michael: I know. I was kidding. We’re catching up to you later. Just wait.
Alexa: Alright, good luck.
Tiffany: Good luck to you.

Nicole: This is pretty cool, eh?
Jenn: It is. Just wish the temperature wasn’t so low.

**Brandon & Alexa complete the task, with Michael & Tiffany about 5 minutes behind. Jenn & Nicole do well in the task and close up the gap between them and M/T.**

Alexa: Good job, baby.
Brandon: You were awesome too.
Alexa: Another route info.
Brandon: Drive yourselves to Godthab Bay.
Alexa: Let’s go then.
Tiffany: Come on, Honey. We gotta catch Brandon & Alexa.
Michael: I know.

Nicole: That sure was fun.
Jenn: Now we gotta get to another bay.
Nicole: Careful when you drive, hun. We don’t wanna get stuck again.
Jenn: Alrighty.

**2nd group of teams arrive at Disco Bay. Jason & Nicholas are first in the group with Dorothy & Lauren just about a minute behind. Henry & Florence are about 3 minutes behind Dorothy & Lauren due to initial snowmobile problems.**

Jason: Cool. Dogsleds.
Nicholas: Come on. Let’s not blow the lead we have over the other 2 teams.

Lauren: Wow. This is so cool. I’ve never ridden dogsleds before.
Dorothy: Come on. Let’s go! I can hardly wait.

Henry: Come on, Flo. We can make up some ground at this task.
Florence: I love dogs!

**scene cuts back to the 1st group of teams**

Alexa: Is that it?
Brandon: Sign says Godthab Bay. Must be it.
Alexa: Aha. There’s the box.

Brandon: Roadblock!
Alexa: Who’s good with animals?

Phil: In this Roadblock, one team member will have to lead 10 reindeer into a shed 100 meters away from the place the reindeer are held. Sound easy? Not really because reindeer are known to run away from unfamiliar objects.

Alexa: I’ll do this one, Brandon.
Brandon: Alright. Do it as quickly as you can.

-Michael & Tiffany arrive 5 minutes later-

Tiffany: I’ll do this Roadblock.
Michael: Alright. Come on, Tiff. You can do it.

-Jenn & Nicole arrive 5 minutes after M/T-
Nicole: We gotta do some moving of animals…
Jenn: I’ll do it.
Nicole: Alright. Here’s a good luck kiss.

Florence: If only we could keep those dogs as pets.

Florence: Fine! We gotta go to Godthab Bay.

**The 3rd group of teams arrive at the task in the following order. Jeffrey & Ryan, Bryan & Kyle, Thomas & Zoey, Melissa & Sean and Jessica & Ashley**

Ryan: So far so good, Jeff.
Jeffrey: Aright awesome. We get to go on dog sleds.

Kyle: Bryan, you’ll like our next task.
Bryan: Dog-sleds!!
Bryan (conf): Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to go on a dog sled. The dream has finally came true.

Zoey: Man. I don’t feel so good Dad.
Thomas: Do you wanna rest awhile?
Zoey (conf): My body tends to shut down during very cold conditions.
-she bends over-
Zoey: I’m feeling faint…
Thomas: Zoey. Stay awake!
Zoey: Dad. I can't... I...
-she faints temporarily-
Thomas: Zoey!

Jessica: Oh my god. Someone fainted.
Ashley: Come on. Let’s go help her.
**after attending to Zoey, she finally wakes up after several minutes**

Thomas: Thanks you guys. You better move ahead first.
Zoey: Thanks. I’m fine. Just a bit dizzy that’s all.
Zoey (conf): Thank goodness we have doctor racers in our season.

Jessica: No need to thank us. It’s part of our duties.
Ashley: But seriously. We should get going. The other teams are going to catch up soon.

Thomas: Zoey, you good to go?
Zoey: Yeah. Let’s go.

Sean: Oh crap. We’re the last team to reach here.
Melissa: Don’t worry, son. We’ll catch up some how.

Alexa: Come on you stupid last reindeer.
Brandon: Doing good, honey.

Nicole: Come on, babe. You can do it.
Jenn: Just 2 more to go.

Alexa: Done!
Brandon: Come on, Michael & Tiffany are only a few minutes ahead.

Nicole: Great job!
Jenn: Phew. That was hard. The reindeers are like super anti-social.

Jason: Roadblock.
Nicholas: I suck with animals.
Jason: That means I’ll do it.

Lauren: Gran. I think you should be able to do this with no problem.
Dorothy: Alright. I’m pretty good with animals anyway.

Henry: Since you like animals…
Florence: I’ll do this one.

Jeffrey: And we maintained our lead too. Come on. Let’s not lose it.

Thomas: You feeling alright, Zoey?
Zoey: I’m fine.
Thomas: Both of us did really good at the sledding. We passed 2 teams.
Zoey: I know. Let’s not let go to waste, shall we?
Thomas: Alright. Let’s go!

Kyle: Come on Bryan. We’ve been passed by one team already.
Bryan: Let’s drive faster than.

Jessica: That sure was an exhilarating ride.
Ashley: Yeah. I just hope we won’t get eliminated today. There’s a high chance of that.

Melissa: Wasn’t that fun?
Sean: It was. But it’s gonna be more fun if we don’t get eliminated today.
Melissa: Here comes Mr. Negative.

Lauren: Gran. You’re awesome. You only have 3 more.
Nicholas: Wow. Your grandma’s pretty quick. Jason still has 4 more and we were here first.
Lauren: I guess she has a talent in this.

Florence: I sure wish these guys would stop running away from me. Am I that scary? It’s not like I’m Godzilla or something.

Dorothy: Yay. I’m done.
Lauren: You were super fast, gran.
Dorothy: Guess they liked me.

Nicholas: You lost to an old lady dude.
Jason: Shut up. Like you can do better.
Nicholas: I know. I was just teasing you.

Florence: And you are the last one, my dear.
Henry: And you’re done… Flo.
Florence: Now we get to go to a mountain! Wohoo.

-scene now shows the 1st group of teams-

Alexa: Oh crap. I think we just missed a turn.
Brandon: Alexa!
Alexa: Turn in at the next exit and then make a left there.
Brandon: And how much time will this cost us?
Alexa: About 10 minutes.
Brandon: Great… What’s wrong with you, Alexa? You’re supposed to be superb navigator.
Alexa: Probably the temperature.

Michael: There’s the carpark and the marked path.
Tiffany: Still in first, baby.

Nicole: Park right here.
Jenn: Only one car, babe.
Nicole: That means we moved up one notch.

Michael: Detour!
Tiffany: Mail or Print.

Phil: In this Detour, teams have to choose between two uncommon ways of lives here, Mail or Print.

In Mail, teams have to travel to the Santa Claus’ Post Office and then deliver 8 letters around the district, on foot. Teams will get their next clue upon returning to the Post Office.

In Print, teams will have to travel to Sydtryk Printing Works and with a printed picture, go into a printing room filled with thousands of printed pictures. Teams will have to find one out of the ten pictures that is exactly the same as their picture. The printing officer will hand them their next clue when they're done.

Tiffany: Let’s do the Mail. The Print one sounds like too much luck-dependent.

Nicole: Detour!
Jenn: I say we do the Mail, Nicole.
Nicole: Agreed. Off to Santa Claus’ Post Office.

Alexa: And finally we’re here. I think we’re the 3rd team.
Brandon: Detour. Mail or Print,
Alexa: Both sound pretty hard.
Brandon: Let’s do Mail. Print’s gonna take too long.

**scene cuts back to the 3rd group, driving to the Roadblock**

Zoey: Dad, instead of turning at the 3rd exit, turn at the 2nd. It’s a shortcut.
Thomas: Good job, ZO. Hopefully we get there 1st in out group.

Jessica: We should be there in a couple more minutes, Ash.
Ashley: That’s good to hear.

Kyle: Bryan. Do you know where you’re going.
Bryan: Yeah yeah.
Kyle: I hope you do, dude.

Sean: Uh oh. Our car’s stalling.
Melissa: Are you serious?
Sean: You gotta be kidding me!

Jeffrey: Better them than others.
Ryan: Yeah I guess. Anyway, let me do this Roadblock.

Ashley: And… we’re finally here.
Jessica: Roadblock.
Ashley: You do it. I don’t particularly adore animals.
Jessica: Alright.

Sean: Wow. We’re not last. There’s still one more clue there.
Melissa: Roadblock
Sean: I’ll do this one.

Kyle: Bryan! You said you knew where you were going…
Bryan: Damn. We’re like totally lost.
Kyle: Just turn around. Seriously.
Bryan: Whatever you say, Kyle.

**Michael & Tiffany complete the Detour with no problem, maintaining their 1st place position. Both Jenn & Nicole and Brandon & Alexa complete the Mail Detour with ease as well and maintain 2nd and 3rd respectively**

Michael: Route Info.
Tiffany: Make your way on foot to the next pit-stop!

Phil: Teams will now have to make their way, on foot to the Colonial Harbour. This historic harbour is the 3rd pit-stop in a race around the world. The last team to check in WILL be eliminated.

Tiffany: Oh my god. Come on. Let’s go, before the other team catches up with us.
Michael: The last thing we want is a footrace to the mat.

Jenn: Let’s go, let’s go. It’s off to the pit-stop!!
Nicole: Damn. We have to run? My legs are like… frozen.

Alexa: Is that Jenn & Nicole??
Brandon: Yes it is!
Alexa: We could beat them in a footrace.
Brandon: I’m up for it. Let’s go…

Michael: Come on, Tiffany. The sign says “Colonial Harbour”
Tiffany: Coming!! Oh my god… There’s Phil.

Pit-stop Greeter: Welcome to Greenland.
Tiffany: Thank you. It’s absolutely stunning here.

Phil: Michael & Tiffany… You are team number ONE.
Michael: YEAH.
Tiffany: Wohoo. That’s awesome, Phil.

Phil: I have some good news for you. As the winners of this leg of the race, you’ve won a one week all expenses paid trip to Brazil.

Tiffany: That’s awesome.
Michael: Practically our second honey moon.

Phil: And you can enjoy that after the race.
Michael: Thank you Phil.

Jenn: Oh shoot. Brandon & Alexa are behind us.
Nicole: And the pit-stop is in front of us.
Jenn: Run, Nicole.
