Borneo and Outback have a lot of fans as the earliest and original seasons along with the Superbowl lead-in that Australia got. However, it also has a lot of people who dislike them for being boring and predictable. All-Stars is a controversial season for having so many favorites, but some people couldn't take their favorites doing poorly. Romber was very polarizing, so people either love or hate that season. Cook Islands and Fiji had so many minorities. Minorities probably love those seasons, but racists hate them with a passion. Those who aren't either like or hate them depending on whether they like happy endings or connected with the castaways. Most of the other seasons have at least a couple lovers and haters. Some people like Africa, while others hate it. Micronesia is mostly loved but has some people who didn't like it. I would say that the best season is China, because few people have anything bad to say about it, and it's almost universally loved

It was created as a social experiment. Strand 16 people of different walks of life and have them build a new society. The added element was to vote someone off. All casual fans I know still consider the first two to be the best.

The show was a money-making production show for ratings, and it had elements of both a game and social experiment in it. So fans can like or dislike seasons for whatever reason they want, because in the end, it's all just entertainment and business

It was still something new to us. Also, the game's strategic elements have been evolving over the course of the game. Each season has the precedent of every past season for strategic prowess. Borneo had no precedent, and Australia had very little, so of course those seasons are going to be strategically boring. The game hadn't been discovered yet, so it was more about the different characters and how they interacted (though I do agree that Australia was boring after Jerri left. The Christian Coalition in that season was really dull).

Well, yes of course it's predictable once you've watched it a hundred times on DVD!! Back then, the players couldn't predict that their adventure would even air, the audience couldn't predict how it would turn out or if they'd even want to watch it unfold. Showing Hatch sitting in a tree and telling his tribe mates to consider why they were there before going off in every direction was the premise to that experiment. It turned out to be magical because the audience grew to 50 Million by season's end. Boring? Not if you were part of the people talking about it at the office on Friday mornings. (Oooops, maybe you weren't even in school in 2000!!) Australia had to live up to that magic and the increased audience anticipation. It delivered every week. Predictable? That idiot Mike catching pig, thanking God in front of his tribe for making him their leader and later falling into the fire? Tina taking over power from Jerri but keeping her loyal until blindsiding her? There were thousands of different theories about how things would unfold and some ideas even made the news. (Again, you wouldn't grasp that popular reaction if you watched it for the first time on DVD in your parents' basement.) If Thailand had been first, the series could have gone the way of Pirate Master.

I don't live in a boring small town like where you seem to live. I watched Survivor on my own, and I was initially so unimpressed that I only watched it here and there until the later seasons got me more into the series. It was predictable even back then, because they flat out showed that there was a Tagi alliance that was wiping Pagong out, and Sean was constantly doing his stupid alphabet strategy! It's not rocket science. Australia was definitely better off than Borneo, but compared to every other season, it was still tedious watching what was going to happen. The editors didn't even try to hide who was in control and who was going next, and the players fell into mostly basic patterns of gameplay If Thailand had been the 1st season, then Jan would be worshipped as the Rudy of the season. Helen would be Kelly, Clay would be Sue, and Brian would be Richard Hatch. People would love the "social experiment," people would still talk about the great reality show Survivor, and there'd still be a bunch of fans who loved the series. There's no comparison to Pirate Master, because by then there's a billion different reality TV shows around competing with it

She plays with her heart not like those other evil players making alliances! Since she was in the 5th season with a more experienced audience people instead dislike her greatly because she was a follower with no strategy, but that kind of thing was like worshipped back in the early days

Do these ghostie-tards realize that if they were later seasons, more people would have been playing the game because they'd have past seasons to look at for examples of how to play the game. The first few casts, no matter who they picked, would have been Pagongings based on simple strategies. You could have taken the cast of Exile Island or China as the first cast and you'd see people like Cirie/Courtney/Todd voted off early because they were weak and strategy wouldn't really play a huge factor in the game.
