Whatever happened to pre-ASS contestants? |
Lead | |

How come every time there's a charity event or a Survivor party or during the finale, the pictures only show post-ASS contestants (with the exception of
Souna and Poopert)? Whatever happened to pre-ASS contestants?

Maybe they moved on? It sucks, but after a few years I would too.

It's been 4+ years since they played- at some point you just have to get back to normal day to day life.

Well Bonaduce threw Fairplay facefirst into the floor, it was pretty cool.

Um.. most of America has forgotten about the cast of Gabon already, but they still show their faces at these events. These things are no different than get
togethers with friends, it's just that some people stalkers choose to take pics and have them get taken
off their Facebook accounts and posted on Sucks.

If I lived in New York or LA or any other place where these charity events occurred, I'd probably still go to them years after I was on the show, since why
turn down a free ticket to a party? I wouldn't travel the country for them, though, as many of these ex-Survivors do.

Big Tom, Lex, Jake, Clay, Jed, Ethan, Jenna M., and Rudy seem to show up too...at least they used to pretty regularly. And didn't Ramona and Gervase do
some events recently (dodgeball maybe)? Someone told me they met Vecepia at a recent event too.
I'm glad they don't cling on to it and show up to every convention. Maybe once in a while to show that you still recognize the experience, but half the post-ASS contestants must not have jobs, or else they have really generous bosses who let them take time off every other month since they're always at these things. But I'll admit, if I were to go to one of these, I'd be much more interested in seeing the pre-ASS contestants for the most part. Don't quote me on this but I read a rumor that the heavy recruiting of recent seasons annoyed a lot of the pre-ASS players because they had to work hard and stand out against the thousands of applicants and a lot of the newer players get a much easier ride as far as getting on the show goes, and that's why they've kind of boycotted these sort of gatherings. |

It's also a question of proximity. Older Survivor contestants will be more willing to go to these events if it's in their neighborhood.
I know that Jake wasn't at the dodgeball event, so maybe he finally retired from those events. Ditto for Big Tom whom I haven't in neither Coco or Dodgeball. Not that I was overly dissapointed.... My bigger question is why do some of the biggest breakout stars of past seasons refuse to attend any of those event (Ozzy, Penner, Cirie, Amanda, Parvati, James etc.) I respect the fact that they probably just moved on with their lives, but at least one event after your season won't make you look like a Survivor whore. |

I think many go for a reunion withn people from their season. So once numbers from say S4 start to dwindle they all tend to stop coming. Where people keep
coming (Boron Boys, Vanuatu Girls) there is often a critical mass of friends.
ASS bitterness might have soured some of the oldtimers. Pre-S8 some came to build alliances for ASS, and then afterwards there was no point. I notice Fairplay suddenly showed up at Cocoa Beach the summer before S16 and hung out with YM and healed relations enough with Eliza and Ami that they were willing to work with him in S16. |

The people who anticipate an all-stars season go to the functions to network. Then once an all-stars happens they don't find a need to go anymore

You'd think Parvati would have gone to Cocoa Beach the season before S16 to network. All her Raro buddies were there and some were encouraging her on
Myspace to go. But I think she had a gig that summer promoting Playboy Energy Drink with her friend Lauren. Girl gotta earn some money.
Lucky there were enough non-Cocoa Beach goers for her to form an majority alliance. Actually staying away from Fairplay was a good thing, because he was a waste of time for JAYE. |

Coco was probably the reason why YauMan, Fairplay and Ami/Eliza immidiately formed an alliance. But Penner, Cirie, James, Amanda, Parvati and Ozzy were all up
for grabs.

A yearly event for Survivor castaways and fans in Florida during July. Although it seems like it's over now, It was cancelled this year and probably will
never be coming back.
