Edgic Is A Big Failure |
Lead | |
|
Can we all agree that edgic was a total disaster in Gabon? They got it all wrong and showed that without spoilers, their ability to predict the winner is
absolutely horrible. I thought it deserved a lot of laughs and finger pointing because it really was a horrendous showing

i agree. i dont get it, has it ever been reliable? remember how tina was COMPLETELY invisible in the first episode of australia? by that logic, couldnt they
have predicted kelly as a winner this season?
eta- which kelly i was talking about |

They should just admit they got played, and that if the editors of the show want to they can always beat edgic very, very easily by going against their rules.

I love that people care so much about Edgic that they feel the need to start threads about it in other forums.

Isn't Edgic always a failure?
Either it's wrong, or when they get it right, it's thanks to spoilers or winners that even the average viewer saw coming since the first episode. But just out of curiousity, who did Edgic pegged this season? I'm guessing Marcus. |

They picked Marcus, then when he was voted out Kenny (and they were all like "we never pick before the merge! We DID NOT FAIL!"), and had Randy and
Matty as the only other viable contenders. Oh and of those that made the merge the two they ruled out the most 'definitively' were Suzie and Bob.

Either it's wrong, or when they get it right, it's thanks to spoilers or winners that even the average viewer saw coming since the first episode.X! Seriously, the only reason edgic works is because it's infiltrated with spoilers/the spoiled. Because people here are such ego-maniacs, they feel the need to "predict" the winners based on spoilers and even make their favorites those who were spoiled to win. Sometimes it's to the point where it becomes so obvious that it ruins it for people the rest of us (like last season). I'm not even referring to edgic, alone, in sucks too. |

opening the edgic thread and actually reading what those retards write is like pouring battery acid on your eyes while trying to navigate a unicycle on an
obstacle course consisting of stephenie's buffet line, ozzy's ego, rupert's bloated carcass

1 bad season does not discount all the great work done by edgicians. But many bad seasons does, and they've had many bad seasons. Since I started posting here with Guatemala, I have learned what the core principles of edgic are. It's quite interesting! CORE EDGIC RULES: 1) Read spoilers and base your winner picks on them. And not just that, but your ratings for each ep too. Thats why you'll have a person being given a rating of INV despite having multiple sentences on the air, while another person who had a Becky or Lilliana type performance is given a CP. 2) Always twist the rules and logic to make you and edgic look good. Like saying that edgic could still be a success this season when Marcus was voted out. Or saying that a winner cannot have an INV rating, while we have had winners who have had that rating. @_@ 3) Tell people like Quiddity that game logic has nothing whatsoever to do with edgic (like Quid's claim that edgic shouldn't pick Stephenie because she'd never win a jury vote being completely dismissed), then when it makes sense for you, use game logic to support your winner pick. 4) Always distort history. Like the made up bullshit about Guatemala being about 'why Stephenie lost'. First, I've been told countless times that edgic is for picking the winner, and everything else is irrelevent, and second, then why were so many people in edgic picking Stephenie to win!?!?!?! There's also them patting themselves on the back for picking Yul, when anyone who remembers what really happened would recall that a huge percentage there picked Jonathan and Ozzy too. 5) Always, I repeat ALWAYS criticize anyone who tries to suggest something that might improve the mess that is edgic. I think that pretty much covered everything. If China didn't bury edgic enough in terms of credibility, I think Gabon kills it for good. It simply has no credibility whatsoever at picking a winner. |

Eh, Edgic isn't completely like that. I don't think it's a success story by any means; it's like spoilers: sometimes you win big, sometimes you lose big. I think there are some Edgicians who use it as a platform to promote themselves and twist the rules as such, but there are also plenty who don't. And if you go read the thread after Marcus' boot and after the finale, you'll see that there are plenty of people admitting they were wrong. And most of the "we have to pick by the merge" was humorous, not real. We all understood that we FAIL'd big-time with Marcus. |

solesurvivor01 wrote:I totally agree. I remember toward the end of the season in Sucks there was a huge burst of Parvati love from nowhere, with tons of people claiming she was going to win. Maybe they could tell just from the show but...I don't think so since I do think Cirie could have beat her if it was a final 3. But as far as Edgic goes, it's fun to do but not that reliable. Especially since it gets more and more spoiled by the season. I don't even read Edgic during Survivor anymore because I know it will basically be equivalent to reading spoilers. This season, however.... |

How does it take spoilers to realize that Parvati's confessional about being there to win this time was foreshadowing? I had her winning since the first
episode and I don't read spoilers, and didn't even look at Edgic then. Don't give me that, that her winning was somehow only forseeable through
spoilers.
If there's an issue with Edgic, it's to do with people feeling forced to predict one single winner, rather than just use it to discuss the possibilities. The basic guidelines they go by are solid and can pretty much be used for any similar reality show that I've seen. This season was edited pretty weirdly, that should be obvious to anyone. |

I've never looked at spoilers, but I have always felt that most of the winners were obvious from the first episodes anyway. I just get a gut feeling and
stick with it. However, Gabon was different. It was definitely hard to predict especially with Marcus looking like he was the winner from the beginning. I was
almost resigned to the fact that Marcus would win. My second choice was Sugar though. I just got that gut feeling about her... Too bad I was wrong. I got the
gut feeling about Bob around the time of when there was like 7 people left but i disregarded it cuz I thought it was really unlikely that he would win.
In conclusion, yay for Gabon being unpredictable! That's part of what makes Survivor so great! |

Why are non-edgic people so obsessed with edgic? And so mad about it?

A lot of the visibility numbers and ratings don't match up right with the episodes..some of it is WAY off. |

If there's one main thing I don't like about edgic, it's the overanalysis of the tiniest detail like it means something. Sometimes an elephant is
just an elephant, you know?
