Mario, while I agree that it's impossible for anyone to know what the show is really like to be on, I think we can get a grasp from what we are shown who played well and who didn't. Peter Harkey does probably know more about the inner workings of the production and social aspect than we do, but people place how they place for a reason, and I think even with the editted show was are shown enough of most of the characters to figure out how well they played. The game is much more socially complex than an ORG as you and I both know ( I also remember when our host took a two week break while I waited to get voted off, that was fun), but I feel like as fans of the game, we know who should be in the Survivor Hall of Fame, after all their wouldn't be one without us. We do know who we like to watch.

An ORG is just a simulation of a real thing, and so no, we can't know what it means to be in the real game. We can understand the numbers and highly strategic aspect of the game through that, but we can never understand the social aspect that goes into that strategy. It's a lot easier to play a highly evolved strategic game when making a bold move won't cost us 20,000 bucks if it fails. It's also a lot easier to work with people you don't like online, and it is so much easier to lie.

Also ORG's suck because there's basically about 5 types of people/players that play them, and thus your pool of experience if quite limited.
