I might have gotten into the story arc but for the fact that Ken was a goddamn former pro football player.
Those guys eat off the fat of the land, even the most marginal of them. Easy to see that Tina was a platinum blond groupie who landed her trophy husband- and then pilloried him to death. Just not very appealing. |

Yeah OK. They're nice.
But I'm thinking why this TAR was so MEH. And one of the factors was Tina. Now, in TAR, we love older ladies with spunk and desire and drive who do well. And, of course we love the younger babes with great bodies and beauty and all the rest. Tina fit somewhere in between. Neither fish nor fowl. And she was old enough not to look good showing her legs or her body. She was a cougar. She made the viewers feel uncomfortable. If Tina would have dressed her age, and acted her age, she might have been more popular. As for Starr, you would think she would be popular- a former Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader, fer chrissakes. But I got to looking closely at her, and the problem is her eyes. Beauty starts with the eyes, and hers are featureless- almost deadpan. And she has no eyebrows. Very unattractive. So there was no spark in the final three teams. Dandrew were just a couple idiots- morons you hire to mow your lawn. It comes down to casting- and those who survive the early rounds. |

Yeah, Tina really should have spent the entire race wrapped in a full-body cardigan for the sake of the viewers' comfort.
I do think the casting was a large part of how underwhelming this season was, but I can't really complain about the final three. The part of the season that really dragged on was the first half, largely because everyone getting eliminated were all even more cannon-foddery than the usual early boots and it seems the editors couldn't even be bothered trying to make them interesting. Probably because that apart from Mark/Bill, almost every early boot seemed to be lagging behind the pack by hours so every outcome could be predicted about fifteen minutes into the episode. |
