Where is it said that Susie is very poor? She was raised as a migrant worker, but now she's a hairdresser and an assistant teacher. Her husband appears to have a blue collar job, and based on the video and visit from home they seem to make a modest living. She could certainly use a million dollars, but it's not like she's homeless.

I'm pretty sure she was referring to her as a migrant farm worker because Susie was a migrant farm worker growing up.
