I don't know if it's because of the contrast with Marcus and Corinne, but off the show, I actually like Charlie. He's getting along with the former
Survivors and he's not bitter at all in his post-game interviews...

I don't think he's more bitter than Marcus but he's definitely bitter. He does seem like the smartest onion though

I don't really see the problem with being bitter. I think there's a difference between being bitter and being petty, and I don't think Charlie has
been petty. I'd be pissed if my alliance had the game pretty much in control, and then one last twist fucked it up. It was especially bad for Charlie,
Randy, and Corinne because they weren't able to do anything about the numbers once Marcus got voted off. Marcus and Charlie had a lot of people believing
that they were going to bring them to the final 3. That may not have played out, but things could easily have been swapped where there's only one member
of the other alliance left. I think it's especially frustrating when the other tribe was so badly beaten early in the season.

I love how some people seem to think it is a character flaw to be bitter about losing a million dollars.

There's disappointed and then there's bitter though

The only difference is one involves jealousy and the other does not. There is really nothing unreasonable about being jealous of someone else winning a million
bucks over you.

Well it's 4 months later, and they were all playing the same game under the same circumstances with the same people, and they wanted to pick off Fang just
as much as Fang wanted to pick them off, so it does kinda come off sounding bitter. Marcus was upset over Ken 'taking advantage of compassion' and
compared him to a drug addict in a sense, and he complained that Crystal didn't take the high road or something. Randy's been spewing hate about Sugar,
Crystal and Susie to no end, (but he did say he apologized to Crystal about the 'T-Rex' comments..), but we expected that of him, and most of it was
game related. Corinne then goes on and on about issues that aren't even game related, like people's education and their background... maybe some of
these people didn't have a good enough background to be able to afford to go to college... And then in Jacquie's interviews, she didn't stop
bashing Kelly. Charlie was upset over Sugar's edit and what Ken had said about him, but he accepted his defeat and was gracious about the blindsiding and
Ken/Crystal's strategic playing...

It's not bitterness to dislike someone. It's not as if Corrine or Randy dislike Sugar, Susie or Crystal because they beat them in the game. They
disliked them way before that.

No one is arguing that Corinne's behavior is acceptable. Charlie, on the other hand, hasn't said one offensive thing.

Yeah I don't get the Charlie/Marcus hate. I guess because they're athletic smart white guys and not quirky batshit crazy loose cannons. Whatev.

Wait. Wasn't it Corinne that said that she wanted to poison these people for not knowing fois gras and prosciutto during the picnic reward? (and it was
Marcus who was asking?)
Yeah. They all deserve each other. |

kenc333 wrote:Yes, some comments may be out of line, but I can see where others are coming from. It was stupid of Marcus to trust Crystal based on a relationship outside the game, but I can see being upset. I have to side with Jacquie somewhat because Kelly just seemed a little slow out there. As for Charlie, so what if he thinks Sugar has gotten a better edit than she deserves? I don't think that's bitterness, so much as it's pointing out we don't get to see every side of some people. I don't think you can lump all of one alliance into the bitterness category. Corinne and Randy probably went further in their comments, but I could also see someone like Crystal acting the same way. In terms of being bitter while out there, Crystal ranks at the top. She has been downright rude to people as well. And, so what if they're bitter about getting outplayed. Like I said before, I would be too, especially if I was in their shoes. You had one tribe that had a pretty solid alliance of people that did seem to like one another. You then had a group of people who could barely get along and were having trouble winning anything. If I was on the original Kota alliance, I'd be pissed that I got beat by a bunch of players who sucked at the early part of the game. And, to be even more honest, I'd be really pissed that the biggest game-switching move (besides voting off Paloma over Sugar) was made by seemingly the biggest non-entity in the entire game (Susie). Yeah, I'd be bitter. I'm thinking the hate Randy has towards Susie stems from the vote off of Marcus because before the first tribal swap, he had an alliance with Matty/Dan/Susie. I don't think all of the personal attacks are necessary, but I also don't think it's bad to say "I'm mad that seemingly stupid people voted me out." Early on in the Fang tribe, there was really no rhyme or reason to vote out certain people. Sugar should've been voted out rather than GC due to the idol and her being on the original Kota. Kelly shouldn't have been voted out because she was the one player from Kota against her original tribe. Besides Kenny and Crystal, the old Fang tribe did not seem to put any thought into actually securing alliances in the game. Hell, if it wasn't for the tribal swap, Kenny and Crystal seemed to be the next ones to go. |

Yea, I agree with pretty much what you said, but my earlier argument was that Charlie wasn't bitter. Maybe I should've separated his sentence from the
rest of it, but I thought the us of the words 'accepted' and 'gracious' would explain that =P

All three come across as snobs who think they are better than the other contestants and therefore "deserve" to win. A pin-up girl or working class
mom or video gamer shouldn't be allowed to win the game because spoiled little rich kids like Corinne, Charlie and Marcus have already been decreed
themselves to be the "winners" in society.

It sounds like a high school thing. Marcus, Charlie, Corrine and Jacquie were athletic, attractive, smart, efficient people who won at everything, and were
"overthrown" (aka screwed by producers) by loser dweeb video game guy, slutty homeless alterna-girl and abrasive giant woman. When I see it like
that, I understand where all this extrapolation about how superior the Onions thought they were and how they finally "got theirs" comes from.
It's like Revenge of the Nerds. Satisfying.
