I don't see what the big deal is. Toni/Dallas will be sold into a Russian prostitution ring and be back on their feet in no time. Money-wise, at least.

I think it is the team who is responsible for their belongings and not the camera or soundman. There have been occasions where teams have misplaced things
one time or another but not in the back of a cab.

yeah the camera people shouldn't/don't interfere with stuff like saving their passports. Like others have said it wasn't a death blow to them personally. They would be able to get new ones in a few days. It only really affected thier race which the crew should not do. Nice catch with the cabs! |

It would be really easy for the production company to get back the passports. In order to show the taxi driver's face on TV, the producers need to obtain
a release -- when they can't get a release from someone, that's why you see a face blurred out. The release probably also has the contact info for the
taxi company and a producer can just call them.
And yeah, if that doesn't work, they can get new oned from the U.S. Embassy. |

BVM said in the pre-race publicity rounds that there would be a "huge mistake... that prevents one team from making it to finish line" - probably T/D
from the looks of things... and it did look like there was an uneven # of teams standing there.
I'd bet a pair of DAndrew's Kazakh sneakers that Toni & Dallas don't make it to the finish line. |

This was posted in another thread. It is, perhaps, definitive.

The question you should be asking is why Dandrew didn't go back to the theater to get their shoes AFTER checking in at The Pit Stop. |

Toni: But we wouldn't have had a passport and we wouldn't have continued, and we wouldn't have met the people that we met begging on the street, and we probably would have thought that Russian people were horrible and we found out that they weren't. There was a lot of things that we learned by that process so I'm not pissed off by anything. I think everything happened the way it needed to happen and we learned a lot from it. So at least Toni got to learn that the Cold War is over. Great. Didn't Billy Joel figure that out, like, 25 years ago? |

ah, well, that does suck if production made him take it off. If then, they knew he was leaving it behind, they should have told him. But as most have said, the
vid is a re-enactment so I am guessing everyone forgot about it. That really sucks

Ugh in THAT case they should have given Dallas back his fucking pack after changing the battery.

I can't recall a leg when so many teams sucked so bad at the same time (with each oblivious to how poorly the other teams were doing).
And Toni and Dallas really did get fucked six ways from Sunday on that leg. 1. Hour of Operation bunch that erased a decent headstart (which would've been significant given that there were no flights on this leg); 2. Having to change out the microphone battery (granted, this probably happens alot, but it was most likely a big distraction in the midst of lost-cab-driver hell); 3. Being (apparently) the first team ever assessed a mid-leg "no clue for you" penalty without prior notice (Toni said she was expecting the 30-minute penalty at the Mat); 4. Being denied access to the subway to retrace their steps after that penalty solely because of the presence of the cameras. And with all of that, they still weren't that far behind Ken and Tina. |

What, is Dallas like a kindergartener who needs notes pinned to his shirt to take home to mommy? So what if production made him take the pack off for two
minutes to change a battery? That's no excuse for him to leave it behind - it's 100% his own fault.

I think when it comes to passports, maybe there should be a rule that if production sees that you've left that behind, they should pick it up - because I
think it's a safety and security issue at that point, and not a game issue. They could instill a time penalty for it in the game, but if someone else got
a hold of your passport, the bigger problem you could face later, after the game, is identity theft. Or another hypothetical case would be if someone lost
their passport, and then got injured and required medical attention. I know it's unlikely for both to happen, but if it did...
