We used to go to my grandparents' house in OHIO every year and it would be cold, crowded, and chaotic. Not to mention the fact that two whole days of my luxurious vacation were spent sitting in the backseat of an SUV with piles of luggage, a breathing dog, and Christmas presents that for some strange reason my mom wanted to store in Ohio so we wouldn't have to take them a month later. I literally could not move for 10-12 hours. Every time I got out of the car I felt like I had rickets or something. Then my grandma always overcooked the turkey to suck out all the juices because she wanted to have delicious gravy, so I grew up thinking that the turkey in Lunchables was better than the real thing. AND I was forced to entertain my deranged little cousins for hours while their parents got drunk. AND my bitchy aunt hated my uber friendly dog so I was forced to keep her in a kennel in the cold garage. So tragic.
Anyway, my fam started staying home a couple years ago because my brothers have things to do (I still have no life <3), so now it's just uneventful and dull. My mom is a good cook and doesn't make all the nasty "traditional" side dishes that have anonymous goos as the base, but it's still nothing special really. She invites her obnoxious lesbian spinster friend because she has no family/friends, so it's usually awkward and weird too.
I don't like football either, and why would anyone want to watch a parade on TV?
