I thought that it was a bad idea for them to pick half the cast from the first 2 seasons. I would have had a balanced cast across the first 6 seasons with 3 from each season including all of the winners. Borneo - Richard, Rudy, Susan Outback - Tina, Colby, Jerri Africa - Ethan, Tom, Lex Marquesas - Vecepia, Kathy, Sean Thailand - Brian, Helen, Shii Ann Amazon - Jenna, Rob, Heidi 3 Tribes of 6 with each tribe having one person from each season. Chapera - Susan, Colby, Tom, Vecepia, Shii Ann, Rob Saboga - Richard, Tina, Ethan, Sean, Helen, Heidi Mogo Mogo- Rudy, Jerri, Lex, Kathy, Brian, Jenna I attempted to make the 3 tribes as even as possible in terms of physical strength rather than do something like put all the winners on one tribe. Shii Ann probably doesn't belong but I needed a 3rd contestant from Thailand and it had to be a women. I would have had All Stars as season 7 and had a second All Stars as season 14 which would have included 3 Pearl Islands contestants (probably Sandra, Fairplay and Rupert).

WTF Tell me this is just some random rumor someone started because it makes no sense at all. I mean don't get me wrong, he was pretty memorable but why would they ask him to be a returning player 9 seasons later where the average fan probably doesn't even remember him? The reason they casted Amber and Jenna L was obviously to replace Liz and Colleen who both declined and both Amber and Jenna were very active in the Survivor circuit at that time. I think Wigglesworth would've been a much better choice than Jenna L personally, and from what I remember she wanted to do it. Maybe they desperately wanted someone from Pagong. I think Alicia was chosen to fill in the race quota, because ASS was otherwise pretty much white. Probst said on the Early show "Who wants to see Vecepia again?" pretty much crude, but it explains why she wasn't there. And Brian was asked but demanded an appearance fee. Those were originally rumors, but he confirmed it himself on the Early show. Why they wanted Big Tom back is beyond me, I never found him that memorable. He was a watered down version of Rupert. As for Micronesia they originally wanted winners because they did ask Tom but he declined because he would,ve been too much of a target. Seeing as most of the post-ASS winners aren't that memorable, I wouldn't be surprised if that was why they went with the "no winners" idea. In fact, I'm pretty sure a lot of people they asked turned it down and there weren't enough good personalities post-ASS to begin with, which is why they made it a "half-ASS" season. Terry was asked to go and wanted to, but got bumped at last second. His wife thinks he was bumped in favor of Penner, which I would tend to agree, though she likes him so she's not bitter about it.

And although there were no winners in FvF, some of them who read spoilers might have suspected that Amanda was a winner (although nobody found her threatening until the endgame)

Check in Eliza's thread. She said that she went up to Amanda on the first day or something and said "I read spoilers that say you make the F3 and win." Then Eliza said Amanda was very displeased...and of course, all of the spoilers at that time pointed to an Amanda win.

Posts: 8834 (11/29/08 5:29 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	I'm not 100% certain, and it's been so long and it's fuzzy to me, but knew a guy who did filming on Pearl Islands and All-Stars, and not that he knew who was going to be cast or whatever but talked to him before he left for Allstars and then when he returned. I'm pretty sure Brian WAS NOT a finalist, and the only thing about the appearance fee was after the fact or was calling their bluff. (he was at the pre All-star finale party I went to and was certainly chatty); Skupin was on the short list and was bumped once Pearl Islands started airing and Rupert was a hit (maybe they had an inkling that he'd be a hit anyways); Kelly G at the airport is a rumor through and through. The guy didn't know specifics but was a fan himself, and was just as excited as many as we were about the season and also speculated -he knew that they had Rich, Tina, Colby, Rudy and Jerri, and knew they were persuing Colleen heavily (don't know when it was dropped). I didn't know anything about Amber being there.

This 4th Tribe had Neleh, Pappy, Mike Skupin, Sean, Helen, and T-Bird. They were originally supposed to be the blue tribe, but Mark Burnett cut this tribe and used the blue as the merged tribe. I remember that when Jeff Varner was posting here, he said that Mike Skupin, Elisabeth, and several others were supposed to be on the Pearl Islands as the ghost tribe instead of outcasts but the producers decided not to do it since ASS would be the next season. Then Mike was asked to do ASS and pulled at the last minute. After being twice pulled from the cast, he was bitter about it, and when he was contacted for Guatemala, he just said no.

We had three tribes for a reason. I do agree with whoever said that the tribe lineup would be different if they had Elisabeth on instead of Amber. Most likely they'd have put Alicia on Saboga and swapped her with Jerri.

Determining who should be on the show as a fan became a tough task for producers. "We wanted to find the biggest fans that we had like Kathy, who applied 7 times," Probst said. "We almost put her on Vanuatu. She's crazy to the point of being so wacky, that it's peculiar, but at her core, she is a huge Survivor fan. She knows everybody that ever played and she wants to play. That's what we were looking for in everybody." Probst describes the first time the fans met the favorites like a rock concert, saying that they were screaming and cheering to see the returning players ... until they realized that they weren't there to make friends! It wasn't easy choosing on 10 fan favorites to come back and play the game for a second time. Probst said that he hoped to see Shane Powers (Exile Island) and Yul Kwon (winner, Cook Islands) back on the show but there wasn't a spot for them. Tom Westman, winner of Palau, said he would never come back because it would ruin the good image he had maintained among the fans. When it was time for Jeff to answer to BuddyTV, he addressed Coby Archa's (Palau) claims that he was considered for this season along with Janu Tornell (Palau) and Terry Deitz (Exile Island). "At a certain point, yes, he was being considered. I can't say how far into the mix he made it. The truth is that you have 10 spots and you have some certains. You're going to have Yau-Man, James, Ozzy, and Fairplay. Then, you start looking at people like Cirie. You want somebody like Parvati, the quote-unquote hot girl. You need the game changers in Eliza and Ami, people who will betray at the drop of a hat. It wasn't that these were the 10 most favorite, it's that these were 10 favorites."
