Where the hell is that damn Probst preview?

Wouldn't the producers want items back exactly as they are. They auction these items off on E-Bay after the show and they wouldn't be able to do see if parts of it were missing. Maybe they would let a player take a small item like a nametag or a piece of a challenge, but a big ticket item like that immunity necklace Jeff takes back.I can totally see Probst's Conradian thought balloon saying "As the necklace was returned, I couldn't help but notice that the mask on the lower right was gone. However, I kept my wits about me, and accepted the fugly jewelry as if I noticed nothing amiss." I'm sure they have a warehouse full of masks, and a yard of pygmies carving new ones. Stuff gets broken, at the least. The necklace that we think this one came from, is it the one Marcus had or Sugar? |

"Jeff said "This has never happend before".
The previous fake was "That's a stick!" idol. James and Erik failed to play their real idols. People being faked out by fake idols would be a bad play especially since Corrine knew the first one from Bob was fake. I don't know if it will happen, but that would qualify as dumb immunity idol play-- back to back fake immunity idols. |

Birdlady: My thought was that they have to have the original item from the show to get top dollar on the E-Bay auction for charity. A replica, or reconstructed
item would not have the same value as the real thing.
I don't know where Bob gets the items to make his fake Immunity Idols. Left over Tree mail?? Do you know? |

Well, nobody has ever swiped a piece of the real immunity necklace to make a phony one have they? The beads on the "new" necklace being shown in
previews don't match up with the plain cord that was the immunity necklace at the beach. I'm thinking this one Bob has is another fake and that he has
lifted a piece from the immunity necklace at camp. After all, when a person wins immunity, don't they usually hang it up around camp for three days? I
sincerely doubt that anyone watches it 24/7 and Bob could have taken off one of the little medallions that is on the necklace. Even if the cameramen or JP
noticed they would not say anything because it would simply be just too good of a twist.... one they could never come up with themselves. AND it would
certainly give the fake one some credability if it resembled the real individual immunity necklace. LOL

The HI comments came in 2 interviews both conducted by Dalton Ross at EW:
"This season, the idols get played in a way they've never been played before," he reveals. "It astounded me what happened this time. This has never happened. It's that power of the idol that confuses everybody. Nobody's quite sure how to handle it. It gets to a point where it's almost too much power and it does you in. I find that fascinating. This is the one thing that can keep you safe in the game and yet - if you're not careful - it's the thing that will get you voted out the fastest." Pretty saying they get confused by it. It's arguably gotten Ace, Randy and maybe one more booted. "By the time this season is over, you can make the case that maybe this is the dumbest team when it comes to idol play." He must be thinking in terms of combined stupid usage. I mean Sugar has it the whole time and may never need to use it, while others fall on their swords because of it. "Wouldn't the producers want items back exactly as they are." The get some pretty rough treatment in the wild. The Amazon IN actually caught on fire |

Some intertesting comments in Jeff's blog
I hope you all are enjoying Survivor: Gabon. As I said in the beginning, this season is a slow burn.. and the burn is in full force now. I think you'll like the way this season finishes. It's definitely dramatic! And while I don't have any control over who wins, I do have an opinion. My own two cents, I think we have some people who would be great, deserving winners and we have some people I'd rather not see win at all. In fact we have some folks that if they do win will make it hard for me to give them the money! It's usually that way which is part of what makes the show fun to watch. Rooting for, rooting against. It's all good. This Thursday's episode is one of my favorites. Loved Ones. I love love. Some people don't dig these episodes, but I think we should do it every season. It makes you remember how important your relationships are when you go without them for a month! Thanks for all of the really nice comments about winning the Emmy. I really do believe that I am one of the luckiest guys working in television. I am the face of a great show with an incredible team and I get way more credit than I deserve. It felt very nice to log onto the MySpace page and see all the congratulatory comments. Glad you're digging the EW.com blog as well. It's fun to let loose with some lippy opinion. For the record, I am bringing extra security with me to the live show just in case Crystal or Marcus have decided my comments deserve a beat down. Keep the comments coming, thanks for understanding that I usually can't respond to them, but I do read them and take them to heart. Most of them anyway…! Sounds like we may a choice of at least one who's a "fan favorite" and one who isn't. |

It's definitely dramatic!I'm hoping he means dramatic in the shakespeare sense, not drama in the jerry springer sense. I think we have some people who would be great, deserving winners and we have some people I'd rather not see win at all. In fact we have some folks that if they do win will make it hard for me to give them the money!I know Probst has his favorites, which are not generally the same as my favorites, but who would be that bad of a winner? If they went to the jury as it stands now, and Corinne won, that would be a bad result. But if she made it to the finals and won, that wouldn't make her a nice person, but it would have to be a pretty impressive feat of survival from where she is now. |

Frankly, I don't think anyone but Bob and Matty (to Jeff mind you) are the ones that Jeff would feel are
"great and deserving" as opposed to those who he would rather not see win. I don't think he is equating a huge feat to get there and win to
someone he just thinks is a great person and from what he saw on a daily basis is the kind of person who he wants a million given.
The great debate over Survivor is the term "deserving" and I've always maintained, every person who managed to win "deserves" to win but that is NOT necessarily who I would want to win. Everyone has their own criteria of deserving. From what Jeff says, I think for him (especially this season where it seems pretty obvious he isn't too fond of the majority of the players) he is looking at who he actually liked on a personal type level either because they seemed very hardworking and/or likeable in some form without any real nasty (nasty being generalized) (Randy in this case is an aside because I think Jeff personally found him entertaining - he says tomato - we say asshole) :shrug |

Jeff didn't include Bob on a list of his faves (Matty, Ken, Sugar, Randy, Corinne, and Crystal). See his blog when there were 10 left. He appreciates the
entertainment those 6 bring. It was Matty and Ken he spoke most highly of preseason.
Bob could have been edited as the new Yao-man, but he has been pretty UTR. |

Trixigo. Hope you had a lovely Thanskgiving.
I agree with you 100%. Jeff is only human and has his favorites based on who he "likes" personally. I can factually speak that there are plenty of "nice" people in the world and I don't necessarily like them...simply because they are not my type of person. While we can debate here, it is clear that he gets to see much more of the players than we do. Even knowing this, most of us want the winner to be someone "we" like based on what we are spoon fed by the producers. AND despite most of us seeing much of the same footage, there are differences here on who I like versus someone else. I think this is the main reason that while a person might read Jeff's comments, they should recognize that those comments are colored by Jeff's preferences and who HE likes. |

Matty brings about as much entertainment to the show as a slug in salt.

But does Probst only have two categories of players, great-and-deserving and hard-to-give-money-to? Most people would have a middle category, not their
personal favs, but people whose win they could accept without struggle.

I easily read into Jeff's blog and statements he considers Bob one of his favorites. The personal 'edits' are not done either, and we've
seen them take sudden turns many times. That's even true with winners.
BL I'm sure Probst has several categories.

When he posted the list of "favorites" - it was from a production standpoint.
Marcus, Bob, Charlie and Susie were the 4 who were least likely to cause conflict. |

rower - full of turkey; hope yours was great :-)
Yah I get what you are saying - and I don't mean (like Kirblar was saying with respect to production) "entertainment" value - he has said many positive things about Bob even though Bob is not (from a t.v. entertainment view) "must see t.v." No one said Matty is good entertainment but Jeff is definitely more affable about the guy then things he stated about others. He mentioned Kenny (again see production value) but he also said (paraphrasing) about the way Kenny has acted, he was waiting on Kenny getting knocked down a few. This is what I am talking about and out of those left, I think only Bob and Matty are ones he seemed to react positively about instead of either not giving a crap about them or kinda disliking I am also referring specifically to his current blog entry and his comment which pertains to only those left; he says ending/winners not who he just thinks is good television right croc - I'm sure Jeff has more than two categories - I DO think THIS season Jeff found it easier to slice it more down the middle though. You can tell in all his statements - I'd say a majority of posters here have noted (or posted) they could tell Jeff was not exactly fond of this season so I think he actually was more black and white in his preferences of who (is left) is "deserving" In other seasons, I think the middle category was easier for him. I honestly do not think he liked this season or the majority of the people in the game.
