I understand why they didn't let them have luxury items for PI (because of the whole clothes on your back) and All Stars (Because we've already seen them and they should be able to survive without), but I have no idea why they weren't brought back for Vanuatu. It's more exciting to have more contestants to root for and follow than less in my opinion. A bigger cast gives us the editors a chance to ignore boring castaways without having to give everybody airtime regardless of whether they bring anything entertaining to the show or not All I'm going to say to that is if the casting department did their job, then there wouldn't be any boring castaways. Everyone is entertaining in their own way, that's how they made it on TV in the first place. With 20 people, there's not enough time for us to see it (now, if there were no double boots or anything than I could understand since they'd get a few extra episodes to explain what's going on, but in CI, they had 4 more people than normal with only 1 extra episode).

There is very rarely such a thing as a boring individual. You put an average person in the middle of a tense environment like that, and you're going to have stories. They may not be the most "colorful" or "loud" characters like Rupert or Jonny Fairplay or Yau-Man or Kathy, but who needs a season of 16 of those, anyway? I'm sure that people like Rebecca and Liliana had interesting things to say and interesting stories. Actually, if you check the Insider clips for Fiji, Liliana was the head of two alliances in her time on the island (the massive 10-person alliance that she founded with Rocky, which Sylvia wisely split up when deciding tribes, and the failed Hispanic alliance that she tried to start on Moto). We never saw either of those because they didn't end up affecting the overall story, and that sucks, because it meant Liliana pretty much just got one confessional her entire time out there (on her boot episode).

Clearly they wanted the Aras/Terry F2 they were never going to get, but Danielle winning that challenge negated any slim chance that either Aras or Terry would be retarded and bring the other to the finals. Not that I mind that Danielle won it - it was hysterical to watch her freaking out over her choices. I don't mind it either since in the end Danielle's win just handed the game to Aras, who I preferred over Terry. But seriously, you have a light short gymnast balancing on a lilypad compared to a stocky heavy-built guy (Terry) and someone really tall (Aras). Neither of them had a chance at that challenge.

I was surprised Aras lasted longer than Terry. Tall people suck at balance because their center of gravity is in such a different place.

F3 makes it more even. I like the 20 castaways because that gives us who apply a little bit more of a chance to get on.

One of the original spoilers for China was that the F5 consisted of four women and one man, including an Asian girl and a blonde girl who couldn't stand each other and had a massive row at the F5 tribal council, at which the Asian girl was voted out. This all proved to be true, bar the huge argument we never saw. In Courtney's voting confessional at the F5, when voting for PG,however, she says something along the lines of 'I was gonna say nice things about you but then you went and talked a whole load of smack about me. Now you're just annoying.' So that argument obviously DID happen. Seems really odd that in a season that had very few personal conflicts they left this out. Maybe they wanted the season to come off in a positive way, or thought that showing Courtney in another feud would make her too negative.

I like the 20 castaways because that gives us who apply a little bit more of a chance to get on. i see your point, but. think about the seasons with 20 castaways: cook islands and fiji were almost ALL recruited people, and then Micronesia only let ten new people in, most of which were also recruited. so 20 castaways so far has actually lowered the chances for the people who actually apply.
