Ah Maniac, if anybody can clear this situation up it's probably you. And I almost remember Janu saying she felt "stronger" in a confessional for
getting through Tribal Council.

Oh for God sakes, production didnt make Janu quit. Yeah, they like Steph as a character, she may be back for a 3rd time. But Janu had gotten what she wanted
out of Survivor, and seeing how much Steph wanted to stay, and knowing she was going next, Janu decided that it was time to go. Not Jeff asking her a bunch of
questions and forcing her to quit.

From what i've understood from the Palau players, Janu was done after her good friend Willard left and had been asked to be voted out by Koror at the Coby
vote but they did not, Since Coby was her one good friend out there, without him she was more isolated from the group. As its been mentioned she was worried
about losing her jury spot and her placement money. The tribal council was frozen when Jeff left and the camera's were turned off and she was able to talk
to a producer about not loosing her jury spot and they basically told her that if she quit she wouldn't be treated badly by Jeff or poorly edited, ala
Osten. So she did, and Steph stayed for three more days

If this question has been asked already, I apologize. At the final tribal council when the jury goes to vote is there actually a cameraman there or just a
camera? If there is a cameraman there then he/she knows who won?
Also who is privlidged enough to know who wins before Jeff reveals the votes live? I remember Burnett saying even he doesn't know. |

Maniacboy888 wrote: That's besides the point. The fact that this "Outcast" twist was used in exactly ONE episode, to me, I believe they were out to try to break Janu. Hoping she would quit and give Stephanie one more episode. The fact that they did not go back to the "outcast" twist until season 12 to me is an indictment. They have to know btw, at least some of whom is going to win. They have to show a few people voting during the show, so there is someone that reviews the entire vote and then decides on how to show it. Sometimes they show you exactly whom voted for whom and why. Sometimes they show us the person holding up their vote, but the camera is at an angle where you can hear what they are saying but can't see how they voted and usually is being worded in a way where it could be either/or. They know as soon as the votes are cast how they go. The attempts to claim they don't is part of the mystery of the show.

Like I said, it is a question that was never really answered.
Going onto other subjects....... How about the living conditions of the Pearl Island's OUTCAST tribes prior to their re-entrance into the game? They have been very vague on what their living conditions were. Lill said something about there being only "1 toliet" or something like that. If there was EVER a time for a Clip Episode, it would have been for that season...... imagine a clip episode that showed them on some abandoned beach somewhere and the plotting that may or may not have taken place into the game. The fact that Season 7 was the ONLY episode that did not have a Clip Episode mid season, is very questionable. For all we know, as soon as they were voted out, they were told to give up the clothes they were wearing to producers, whom took it to some beach and hanged it out from day 3 (for nicole) so it would have a 'looked/used' sort of wear. And then, for all we know, they were staying in a 5 star hotel, eating steak and lobster for dinner every night and all you can eat buffet during the day. |

Good for you if you believe but what does that bring to the table? You seem to have a fascination about a test audience. Read Burnett's book where he reveals everything about the making of Borneo and see how off base you are in that belief. |

According to Burnett, there was no cameraman present as the final votes are cast--probably not when any votes are cast, since the shot is always precisely the
same, and plus, how awkward would it be for the contestants to be staring directly at some guy as they say things like "Fuck you," "I'm not
gonna play you and Jeff's little silly-ass game," "YOU HAVE MADE MY LIFE HELL FROM DAY ONE..." or Gervase's epic speech voting for Kelly
to win?
Obviously though, the editors and producers know the votes before the live reading, despite rumors about a "lockbox" in Marquesas. The fact that Season 7 was the ONLY episode that did not have a Clip Episode mid season, is very questionable. Er...no. Six other seasons didn't have one either. Granted, it is the only 16-person season besides Borneo not to have one but the Outcasts is precisely why they could afford not to have one, as it took the place of the 14th (recap) episode. And even if they did have a clip show, I sincerely doubt that footage from the Outcasts camp would have been included. |

panurge46 wrote: Borneo was the first time out, where they had no clue what was going to happen. For example, starting in episode 5, the Pagong tribe already knew what the Tagi tribe was up to, were already talking about how they were going to get picked off one-by-one after the merge. In episode 6, we see Joel Klugg try to warn his tribe against that by doing it themselves and how Gretchen reacted to it. And in episode 7, when Sean Kenniff visits the pagong tribe flat out asks him if that is what they are going to do, and he said how they were talking about doing it but did not think they were going to do it now. . Now, I suppose it is possible that Hatch/Rudy/Sue/Kelly flat out bragged that they were going to do that to them during challenges. But I find it easier to believe that Burnett/Producers tipped off the Pagongs because they feared what Hatch was doing would shoot down the show. Does Burnett address that in his book? |

As we all know All Stars filmed while Pearl Islands was airing and Fans vs Favorites filmed while China was airing. Did contestants know where Rupert finished
in PI and where James and Amanda finished in China since they couldn't watch those episodes?

Couple of things to address.....
1) Survivor PEARL ISLANDS was the first season NOT to include a Clip Episode of any kind at all. Now, when you consider that we would have had TRUELY original footage of the OutCast Tribe and what they were doing during their time out of "the game". We could have seen their living conditions and seen exactly what they were; could have seen attempts to sway things ,etc. etc. The fact that we were NOT shown this, to me, is an indictment that their living conditions consisted of them placing the clothes they were voted out in into a plastic bag; slept in a 5-star resort, ate steak and lobsters, worked out in the gym, etc, etc. |
