I think he was still upset because Charlie took the note. Not the greatest strategic reason for a vote, but it's not homophobia. There are a lot of flaws in Ken's game but that's not one of them.

I agree. Ken made an emotional decision not a strategic one. He should have targeted Corrine, she is too smart to keep around. Charlie could have been recruited if handled correctly, to get out the more physical players.

It could work out for Ken, but their decision to show his plan as being emotional, not strategic, makes me wonder if the move ends up hurting him in the long run. We get to hear him say stuff like he's proud with how he played the game with good values and morals. Good riddance to another self righteous asswipe. He even had the audacity to say how only him and the onion people are enjoying this game unlike others who bitch and moan. You too bitched and moaned about Ace, Dan and Susie behind their backs, fuck you. the Onions + Randy are definitely the evil who sees themselves as the good/smart people against the rests who are 'evil'/idiots/losers. Posts: 14630 (11/14/08 7:46 AM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	He said he enjoyed the game and other people didn't, but I don't think he characterized it as the Onions being the only ones who enjoyed the game. He also said that he thought the old Fang tribe was playing a great game (he specifically mentioned Ken and Crystal). I don't think he sees them as evil. The only one I've seen put people in those specific terms is Crystal, although the Onions do have a very condescending attitude. He seemed more than a little sanctimonious and annoying, particularly when he said some people had just started playing the game, and he was happy for them. I also didn't care for when he said he couldn't believe he'd found people who were as intelligent as he was. He also seemed very paranoid about being portrayed as nothing more than a coattail rider for Marcus, which kind of made me laugh, because that's exactly how he was portrayed. I think he's an OK guy, but probably stuck up, then he got in with a group of people who were also stuck up and they lost most of their ability to play a social game.

Yeah, look at Charlie's secret scene video. "OMG I'm so happy to find people in this game as smart as I am like Randy. We're aligned because we're intelligent and intelligence is rare out here, the others are idiots"

We're aligned because we're intelligent and intelligence is rare out here, the others are idiots" I don't think that's any truer of the Onions than the Yul\Becky\Jonathan bond in S13, or the Eliza\Jonathan\Yao bond in S16. Generally like aligns with like. The hardcore fans and gamers allign, the cool kids allign, etc.

But I don't think his vote was based on homophobia. These Insider clips are so much better presented and more complex than most of the show these days. I wish they could just cut the episodes in half and spend the rest of the timeslot on the clips. Viewers have never had a chance to see most of this season's players in any form beyond the caricatures in the episodes.

I thought those were really interesting voting comments. We've seen some ugly personal comments from Crystal, Kenny, and Sugar, but here they make the effort to be nice. It's not that they are demonizing their opponents, they're making distinction between people they perceive as losers and people who are simply losing competitors. It was also interesting how much Sugar talked about Matty deserving the reward, yet never suggested he "deserved" to win or to make the finals. She also seems to be very clear that rewards are one thing, but a million dollars is something else. (She's also the person in the best position to compare the alledged negativities of Kenny/Crystal and Corinne/Randy, and seems to think Corinne/Randy are worse.) I really wonder how much of the Crystal-hate is size-ism, not because of her race or dialect or personal character. If she were a giant Swedish woman, she would still be, well , giant. She's always going to take up a lot of space, just by existing. Corinne and Randy have to literally look up to her. (Marcus didn't seem to have issues with her in the game. Because he was arrogant and oblivious, or because he was her size?) I bet the kids at the day care love her. I can just see a passle of them swarming over her, like the friendly giant in one of their books.

I do think he probably had a healthy self-ego that made him smoothly act as if he were in charge, but he seemed to want to try to figure people out, and he seemed to want to connect to people, and he never made disparaging comments against them. I'm not buying the Marcus hate.

His own parting comments reek of sanctimony and narcissism. Everything is about who is smart and everything has to do with his appearance on the show and trying to dispel any negative images (based on how he thinks people will look at him) in his final comments. No real depth of character there at all. Glad he is gone. Marcus = confident, but not a shallow narcissist like Charlie.

What he did was take out the nicest member of that alliance. No one is going to be cosying up to either Randy or Corrine and forming an alliance. Just look at Sugar's reasons for voting against them.
