The Onions were never 'playing the game', they were just winning challenges, that's a huge difference. They had no game, they had no strategy, Fang were losing all the time, which means they had been playing the game since the first immunity challenge, they had to strategise and form alliances, secret alliances, blindsides and all that 'playing the game' shit. Kota were just sitting back with immunity and letting Marcus do the little thinking that they needed to do. Now it's come to a merge the old Kota/Onions are fucked because they have no game, they haven't had time to practice real strategising, which is why Ken and co are running circles around them.

What is she supposed to do, say "I can't do that - you see I agreed to vote with the other group." Sugar may not be smart, but she's not blowing it - ergo, she's not stupid.

If Sugar voted with the Onions, they would have had a lock on the numbers, and Sugar would never get higher than 5th in the pecking order. By voting with Fang, she at least has a chance to manipulate herself into the final 3 once the onions have been picked off. If she is smart, she will suck up to Matty and Susie, because there is no chance of breaking up Crystal/Kenny.

If you watch the insider clips, Charlie, Corinne and Randy talk about lying to Sugar about getting rid of Randy later, in order to suck her in and eliminate her around the final five. Sugar is no mastermind, but she is severely underestimated and not an idiot at all. Corinne made the mistake of buying into her naivety this week and she has no one to blame for that but herself. Charlie and Corinne lied to Sugar but she beat them at their own game and did what was best for her. She might be playing with her heart but she still has no votes against her and is kicking ass. For the person who said she doesn't retain information, rewatch. She's perfectly aware that Crystal and Kenny cannot be trusted and that they lied to her about Ace. She remembers, but her best bet was to eliminate Charlie because of his association with the two nastiest players left in the game. At least now Sugar and Matty can overthrow the Susie, Kenny, Crystal grouping at any time. With the idol in Sugar's possession I think she and Matty are in this for the long haul.

They deserve to have their asses handed to them by the very people they've been underestimating the whole game. Dude, the goal in Survivor is to be in the majority alliance of a dominant tribe who gets a numbers advantage on the lesser tribe by the merge. This is EXACTLY what the Onions did. They were screwed by the dumb last-minute twist and not due to any bad gameplay. It's that simple. Really. Kenny and Crystal weren't "underestimated", they just sucked. Big-Time. And will now be saved by the dumb last-minute twist and will probably reach the end game, as per Probst and Burnett's wishes. Kenny's only good move was choosing outsider Kelly in the pick 'em. Which he then screwed up by voting her out two TCs later.

And original Kota Sugar very easily should have sided with the Onions, with a great chance of beating an Onion is the end. Instead, she has just lost two votes on the jury and will probably get creamed in the finale, if she somehow continues to luck her way to the F3 or F2.

Yes, exactly. Because Randy is a variable and might be needed for Crystal at any point of the game. it's all about how you micro manage all the game pieces because ANYTHING can happen. And as long as Crystal would get a semi heads up and time to negotiate -even if it's just at council, it's fair.

Sure, anyone can stumble-fuck their way to a win (Sandra, Vee) but that should not be your strategy in the game.

And also to find the formula based on the game pieces on the entire board (ie. Jacquie, Ace, Sugar saving back in episode four) If you can't do the random challenges that Survivor has preplanned -and you're not good at swimming, rowing, throwing a ball etc, yet still make the show -well, you better get game some other way and to think how to outwit the players that can.

She'll win some of their votes just on their respect for her game. Plus, ya gotta respect that even though she has heart, she isn't ruled by it.
