Why didn't anyone tell me Camile Velasco had a single out? |

Sheesh, I rely on you guys to keep me abreast of all of the latest American Idol releases, including when also-rans like Leah LaBelle, Jim Verraros, and
Melinda Doolittle release stuff. Meanwhile, I had to find out from another site that Camile has had a single out for a couple of weeks now!!!

I guess three years between singles tends to make people stop checking daily, weekly, or even monthly. :/
Nice to find out her album's coming out soon, though. |

After the 3rd season I thought two things about Camile: 1) her performances were mostly awful, and with her horrible stage fright and quavering voice, she
wasn't anywhere near ready to compete; and 2) there was a certain something about her, bad as she was, that made me think she could have a real singing
career somewhere down the line (her version of Until You Come Back To Me is one of the best cuts on the season compilation CD, for example). I still feel that
way.
Her new single has an interesting chorus (see above) but it gets boring pretty quickly. But Camile does have the voice to do reggae, so maybe there's some good stuff on her CD. But since I am still pissed about her never released Motown stuff, and since I was never able to find the "Hangin' On" CD single either (the curse of singing that song continues even AFTER Idol, apparently) I just want to see her CD actually get RELEASED this time. |

I really really liked Camille.
I thought she was sweet, cute, and had a good voice. Her performances on the show though ... were among some of the worst. I felt bad ((((okay laugh at me)))) because she always seemed liked she was going to implode on stage, but I knew she had a good voice in there ... somewhere. |

I also liked Camile. She had an interesting tone to her voice and it would've probably worked if she sung mellower songs (ie: Colbie Caliat's
"Bubbly" but that song didn't exist back then) or hip-hop flavored songs (ie: Lauryn Hill's
"To Zion", which she performed during the AI tour) during her stint on idol.
I remember her getting the brunt of hatred here because fat-ass Lisa Loser who was in the same group as her during the semis, didn't make the Top 10. |

Does Screerider own some fancy beach house where he periodically brings obscure (but attractive) Idol singers? Or is he some paparazzi photographer? Whatever
the reason, I'll admit I'm jelous. The closest I ever came to Camile was getting to meet her parents at the Pancake House restaurant they run in the
Maui mall. I was a stuttering idiot when I talked to them and probably came across like a celebrity stalker.
Anyway, Camile's reggae CD was a non-starter that never showed up in stores, just like her Motown CD. I did finally find and buy her one actual release, the Motown "Hangin' On" CD single, on E-Bay. But I was disappointed by it - maybe I just expected too much. It is a very run of the mill reggae cover of the Supremes song "You Keep Me Hanging On" that got Leah Labelle voted off just 3 weeks before Camile's own demise. If the rest of the CD was like this I can see why Motown decided to leave it unreleased and dump her. |
