BTW Ken also made a moralistic comment about Gillian's character in voting her off, implying she wasn't a good person because she played the game against him. Nerdboy gets a special thrill out of taking down Marcus the BMOC.

They should have plenty of time to relect on that in the Pondrosa. Randy still saw himself as loyal to the Onions, that could easily change when he sees the new alignment.

Marcus had an immunity idol in his hands and he threw it in the trash, essentially. Also, telling someone you're booting him is never a good idea. Lex used to do that shit in S3. People aren't going to lay down and die these days. Blindsides are always the way to go. Giving out boot orders to Cystral and Susie was stupid too... easy to compare notes.

I don't think anyone is really dreading the reactions from Corinne and Randy; in fact, I think most of us are rather looking forward to it. Marcus' boot has given this season another shot in the arm and the aftermath has clearly paved the way for some truly exciting developments.

When you are in that situation, you really need to bet all your money on one horse. Remember how Yul decided Jonthan was the swing vote and worked him exclusively. Marcus got distracted by the fact Crystal was a distant relative. Still, getting Susie on side may have been hopeless. KC could legitimately offer her 3rd in their alliance, Marcus couldn't. Maybe he should have used fear on Susie the way Tom W did on Katie at F5 Reassure her she's certain of 6th of better with Kota, but if KCS don't get the majority at the merge, Corinne will be sending her home 9th or 8th. (I bet that is what will happen.) Loved Marcus referring to the Onion as a Hydra, not dependent on a single leader. He repeated that in interviews. The Hydra is a mythical beast with many heads, and the ability to regenerate more when they some are cut off. Jacquie goes, replaced by Randy. Marcus goes, maybe replaced by Matty?

If there is a good vs. evil theme coming up, I can see Matty being set up as the "good" leader. But then JP also said he was too honest to win. What's important about this scene is that there are people who see through Kenny now and don't underestimate him. That doesn't mean Kenny won't win, for everyone saw Rich for who he was. I"m wondering if Corrine/Charlie/Bob don't align with Matty/Sugar/Randy to take out Ken/Crystal/Susie.

And what a bizarre pairing with her and Kenny. But they have convinced both Sugar and Susie now that someone was after them, and swayed their vote. They are good, saving themselves at least in the short term. Whether anyone would reward them at the end is another story. They are making this season much more enjoyable. They took out ACE and MARCUS! and who didn't think they could have been in the final 3?!

Fairness is questionable, but I agree it wasn't insurmountable. Clearly after Susie idiotically told Marcus she knew she was the swing vote, Marcus should have gotten the other 3 on board with booting Susie. Then, he would merge and his onions would still be 5 strong over the other 4. Marcus absolutely should not have told Ken's strongest ally (and Ken himself!) that Ken was leaving, as it gave them the chance to mount a counter-attack.

What about you - do you think you underestimated him? Marcus: I never thought someone would take advantage of compassion the way Ken does. I hope he's just young, I think he's incredibly bright - he has such promise. And yet he sort of uses his diminutive stature to take advantage of people through their compassion. It's sad. When I have patients who come in for pain medicine because they're addicted, they're taking advantage of my compassion, our society's compassion. It hurts to watch that, it's the last thing I hope for people. I think that's underestimating people in a way - you just don't think they'd go there. Aside from adding further proof to Marcus being an enormous asshole and a sore loser, this could possibly indicate Ken getting much farther in the game after Marcus' boot. Obviously Marcus still harbours resentment, which I don't think he would still be carrying if Ken had joined him in Ponderosa 3 or 6 days later, with so much time to bury the hatchet and interact outside of the game. Also, if Marcus' boot had been avenged so quickly by his Onion pals I don't think he would consider it necessary to be so hard on him (and comparing Kenny to drug addicted patients swindling more pills is pretty harsh) It seems like Marcus is very bitter, because Ken managed to pull one over on him, and benefited greatly from it. That might just be wishful thinking. Also, reading Marcus' bullshit in his final words / day after multiplies my distate for him exponentially. He's got that "I firmly believe I'm the best thing to happen to society and am demonstrating this by my gracious display of passive aggressive, subtley arrogant humility to let you come to that conclusion yourself" act down perfectly.

Ken also seems to possibly have that vibe. I don't know which side the show will play up, but so far I've seen more of that from Fang. I can only hope that Matty/Sugar aren't that retarded. They've got a much better shot by throwing in with the physically weaker Ken/Crystal/Susie trifecta. Matty would be taking a huge risk by working with Ken/Crystal/Susie. Crystal doesn't like him and based on his voting comments, Ken seems to have some need to scapegoat the alpha male players. He "risked his life" from the start to get rid of Ace. Marcus is a "bully" and a "bad guy". Matty's going to be on that target list soon enough, as soon as they have the numbers. Ken will find a reason to make him the new bad guy. I don't know, I wish we'd seen more of their relationship. I don't know whether Matty's going to make it through the next episode, but if he does, then I think he'd probably be better off going with the Onions and Bob. I also think Randy's going to stay with the Onions no matter what, because even if he tries to jump ship, there's no way Crystal is ever going to forget him taunting her. I was hoping to see some commentary about Crystal having picked Susie originally, and now here they are again. I still think that was a weird pick, but it got everyone where they wanted to be. Yay on Matty for hanging in, the game as well as the challenges, with so little food. Marcus: I never thought someone would take advantage of compassion the way Ken does. I hope he's just young, I think he's incredibly bright - he has such promise. And yet he sort of uses his diminutive stature to take advantage of people through their compassion. Wow. I bet Marcus hates it when sick people come to his work and they're all whiny because they don't feel good, like they're somehow entitled to have him make them feel better. Or when Marcus is participaing in a road race, and someone takes advantage of being faster, and doesn't let him win. Ken's got some awareness, especially for someone his age. Interesting that younger folks so many times just want to work with the other folks their age, but he has been good with the whole range of ages, and seems to do ok with men and women.
