Oh me too! I made myself spend more on presents this year instead of decorations. Shopping is all done and mailed yesterday! :)

You won't find one middle class person living near any of the Aldi's in Chicago. True story.

Despite living in Chicagoland, I live in a good store dead zone - I only get to go to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods when I visit my parents.

I have never understood that Whole Foods is expensive.. if you buy organic veg and meat its the same prices.. they are slightly higher and you have to be
smart.. such as Chantrelles which are 7.00 a pound at the farmers market 17.00 at Whole Foods.. however if you tell them that they meet the price... I would
rather eat less, eat better than shove in my gullet shit that contributes to the weight problems, health problems.. you make choices.. like NAA I now buy
pretty good wines for 20 bucks even 10 when 40 to 60 were my average. Anybody who pays retail prices for wines over 150 honestly needs to spend more time in
France and Spain you figure out wine that is great for much less.
Eat right, less, smart, shop local and buy only what you need.. this bulk crap adds up and you throw more out. Buying the prepared foods regardless is also expensive.. something I do is cook on Sunday and freeze some things.. Americans FAT AND LAZY and BADLY CHEAP. Thats why the Chinese and Ikea run this country. |

Okay here is a thrifty shopping tip if you need some batteries and live by a CVS & have a CVS card.
CVS has Duracell batteries on sale this week, buy 20.00 worth and get 15.00 extra care bucks back. (limit 3) Hanging in front of the batteries is a tear pad with coupons to buy any 2 packs of Duracell and get 5.00 off. (grab 3 coupons) Buy 20.00 worth use 5.00 off coupon-spend 15.00 (and get 15.00 Extra care bucks) Tomorrow buy 20.00 worth batteries, use 5.00 off coupon, pay with your 15.00 extra care bucks. (any you will get another 15.00 extra care bucks) The next day buy 20.00 worth of batteries, use 5.00 coupon, pay with your 2cnd set of 15.00 extra care bucks. (you will get another 15 ECBs) So in the end, you will have 60.00 worth of Duracell + 15.00 extra care bucks to spend on something else. And you only layed out 15.00 to start. There are 4 CVS on my way to work so I did this yesterday. And if you really wanted to be frugal, you could split your orders and only buy 10.00 worth (2 packs) at a time with the 5.00 off coupon and the ecbs will build up and print when you hit the 20.00, but then you need 6 of the coupons and this would involve 6 trips to CVS instead of 3. Batteries for all! |

I wish I had time to read the battery deal...but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have time to execute.

I don't need environ-crapping batteries. All my toys run on solar, Holy Inconvenient Truth.

I did both deals last night and managed to spend OOP (out of pocket for you non-couponers) $20 and get $30.99 back in CVS dollars so that's about a $10 profit for the shopping trip, plus the lotion and batteries. |

How can CVS afford to give away money like this? I don't have any CVS around me

It's not just CVS - Walgreens has similar deals, so do most grocery stores. Just depends on who is offering what combination each week. You just have to
look for Catalina deals combined with coupons. Check out hotcouponworld for stores near you. There's also thegrocerygame although they charge $10 per store
per month but I've talked with several people who say it's worth it if you do most of your shopping at one store.
