Next, you can do a ranking of all the product placement seen on Jon and Kate + 8 (since there are so many of them.) Sorry, couldn't resist.

Nothing will ever top Tina's "Doritos...I want a bag of Doritos more than anything" quote. Subtlety? What's that?

I meant that I will analyze both of them, and the "signifigance" and how they were incorporated into each respective season.

NEXT SHAMELESS PLUG....
The lack of incorporation of Yaxha National Park Most seasons take place in National Parks, which helps explain why the Survivors can't fully utilize the land and its resources, but I was disapointed at how bland they made Guatemala seem. I mean, sure, it is a great location, but they did little to distinguish it from the more popular Tikal National Park, nor did they show its flora and fauna in all its glory in my opinion. More an editing mistake than a product one, really. |

Survivor:All Stars Episode 11 "Anger,@%#%# and Chaos" I regret not ranking this last. If you recall this episode, Rupert took Jenna and Amber as his guests during a reward. At the resort where it takes place, there is an utterly obnoxious plug for Pantene, makeup products and Crest toothpaste. Not even attempting subtlety, they go straight for a shot of the shampoo that they were about to use. A close cut up shot. Like this.
The entire commercial within the episode was short, but seemed longer, and was unbearably rude about its advertising My next pick is a group ranking. I am trying to get at everything, every piece of advertising that I find significant to Survivor, and that includes all the car giveaways. Not all the car giveaways are in this ranking, some were significant in and of themselves( ). It is sweet usually to see someone happy, even if they are enjoying a gas guzzler. Sean won the Saturn VUE after the Second Chances reward challenge, and not much more was made of it that episode. Matthew won the Saturn Ion after winning the Second Chances reward as well. His tailgate party was pretty cool, with Rob giving him a friendly
teasing about his perceived loserdom(Rob Cesternino should be the last person bringing that up) and creepiness. Rob also makes fun of Butches xilotheque,
hinting at pyromania.
Burton won the GMC Envoy XUV at yet another Second Chances Reward. The reward with him and Jon was awesome, we even get to witness the cool
boatride into Panama City, which was also very cool. Two things anoy me about this episode. Either Jeff was embellishing history or doesn't know what
he's talking about, because the ruins where Burton and Jon spend the night were not burned by Henry Morgan. It was burned by Don Juan Perez de Guzman,
perhaps accidently, as a precautionary measure. Also, Burton taking Jon on the reward was not their mistake. Their mistake was booting Christa at final 6
instead of Lill.
I'm a
big Romber booster, but this reward is hardly worth mentioning. Not that the car itself is bad, it's just that nothing interesting happened around it.
Ditto.
Ian
never had a car before, good for him. Didn't Katie make him cry for not taking her on reward?
The mild controversy around Cindys win was only somewhat interesting.
I love the Panama cast. That's all I have to say.
Eh.

Dr Will Hatch two point oh wrote:False. Not only would that have completely ruined their end game plans, but it would have put them in an even worse F5 position. Betraying Darrah by tossing Lill would have inspired her to team up with Sandra/Christa no problem (especially if it allowed her to target the biggest threat to her challenge game, Burton). Lill was supposed to be Burton/Jon's in-pocket trump card (not to mention the key to their end games). Burton fucked up with her royally and lost her trust at F5 by refusing to tell her she was still his planned F2 ally. In a sense, you're right; the Reward wasn't what truly sunk Burton (though it helped set up his demise). But his mismanagement of Lill in that round definitely killed his game, and it had nothing to do with the choice to boot Christa at F6. |
