In your opinion, did Sugar "steal" the idol when she took it back from Ace without asking him?
I'm glad Sugar has the idol back, but I think she broke the "You can't steal the idol" law.
Are the producers selectively applying the rules to fit their own motives?

Anyone should be allowed to steal the idol anytime they want, or don't bother having the dumb twist at all.

No, because she lent it to him, so she can take it back without permission. It is "her" idol, and she can do with it what she wishes.

I disagree.
Take China: Todd desperately wanted back the idol he found, but James wouldn't surrender it. If, as you state, the finder of the idol can give and take back the idol at anytime of his choosing, why didn't Todd take back his idol from James' bag like Sugar did? My understanding is that when you give someone the idol, it becomes that person's possession and only that person can to decide to play it, give it back to the finder or to anybody else. |

Actually this dilemma I think can be reverted back to my point. The rules about not being able to steal the idol are tenuous and hard to enforce, and the very aspect that you are not allowed to steal the idol is absurd. Is Exile Island supposed to be a punishement, or is it supposed to be the hunting ground for the idol? Originally, the idol was a potential saving grace to the person stranded on Exile Island. So if you found the thing, treasure it, but it isn't legally your property. AHH, I hate the idol, I don't even like discussing it. |

I agree Ace didn't protest, but Sugar had him cornered.
She took the idol back without telling him and then presented him with the "fait-accompli". Raising a stink to get the idol back would have completely ruined his game, outweighing the benefit of having the idol. It was good strategy on Sugar's part, but I think it was a breach of the "you shall not steal the idol" commandment. |

James also wasn't good at hiding his idols. Denise said she found the idols underneath the medical box, and was tempted to steal one and leave James with
the other, but the producers told her she wasn't allowed to do so. If I'm remembering correctly, didn't he also hide them within the roof of the
shelter, and another contestant saw it there....maybe Peih-Gee I don't remember what that scenario was exactly, but it didn't involve James being very
good at hiding the idol.
If Ace had protested as people have stated, then it might have been a problem, but since he didn't I guess you can say they are "sharing" the idol, kind of like the 4 Horseman in Fiji. |

I wondered the same thing but i dont think ace couldve said "no its my idol now". but the stealing and sharing thing just gets complicated when more
than one person finds it (like mookie/alex/edguardo in fiji or todd/amanda in china)

Could it be possible that Sugar never really "gave" him the idol? Obviously we know Ace had it in is possession, but maybe it was just because Sugar
had Ace keep it for protection, and technically it was still hers.

It is no different than if the gods of the rocks tried to claim that Ozzy gave them his idol when he hid it in the caves. |

Since she and Ace were in an alliance, and she lent it to him, either for safe keeping, for "group" safety so her alliance has it "as a
whole", or to give him a protection option at one tribal council, she never relinquished her technical ownership over it, partial or full. So it's ok
to take it back.
Unless the rule is more "posession is 9/10 of the law", and anyone can "lend" it, only to have it taken permanently. |

X Todd didn't wanna look like a dick and put a target on himself in China. Ace didn't put up a fight so to the viewing audience, who was not there, can assume they either both agree it IS sugars idol or they may have had a squabble that wasn't included with Sugar saying "It's mine...not yours"...idk....no matter what she is the owner of the idol....maybe Todd was just dumb. |
