OK Guys, this is my first season of TAR |

And I moderately like it, but I was lead to believe it was the best show in history, and I don't get the hype at all.
Can someone explain? Does it get better when there are less teams? Were the earlier seasons better? Were my expectation built too high? WHAT'S GOING ON. |

Were the earlier seasons better?You missed the ELDERLY ASIAN OWNAGE last season? TAR > all, though this season is a bit of a let down after the craziness of the last two. |

The thing with TAR is that there's usually a lot of hype in the beginning because there's hope that a likable team can win. TAR has a thing for
producing shitty winners, and you don't really have any winners liked at sucks in any of the later seasons. Usually the best team and most likable teams
finish 2nd and 4th, so I think there's always a lot of hype until the good teams get out. Last season, one of the statistically best teams (and sucks
favorite) finished second, which sucked, and that's why a lot of people will cite season 5 as their favorite: good variety of teams including the crazy
couples and Charla and Mirna, interesting tasks, and likable winners.

And the earlier seasons were better, I so wish they'd go back to FF's every leg. It's boring the way they do it now, and there is no strategy
involved whatsoever.

The older seasons were definetely the best. 1,2,3 and 5 were the golden age for TAR and 4 kinda sucked. Since then most of the seasons have been a little
shitty with the exception of TAR12 and now possibly this one has potential. As mentioned, basically all the winners have been crap beyond belief. The shittiest
team usually wins.

Personally TAR will always will be secondary to Survivor, but I think this season is actually better than the last one. I like the vibe on this one <3.

I was lead to believe it was the best show in history TAR2 and most of TAR1 and 3 come pretty damn close. I actually like this season more than the last one too; I thought that one got off to a really slow start; fortunately they had an animal in the first few legs to liven things up (including the completely random "Bring a chicken to the pitstop for no real reason"), although the second half I thought was fantastic. But other than a paint-by-numbers premiere, this season has been pretty consistent. Hasn't reached the heights of last season yet, but it hasn't hit the lows either. The last 15 minutes of the eighth episode of TAR3 (despite it being a NEL) make up easily one of the most exciting reality show moments ever, and I didn't even watch it when it first aired. When you're watching moments like that, or the TAR2 Australian slang Roadblock, or the race to finish line in TAR2, or Marshall/Lance yelling "Bitch!" while driving past Mirna, or Kevin/Drew leading a camel, or the Chas' shopping spree, or Flo inadvertently eliminating the WonderTwins...that's when the show truly lives up to the hype. |

It grows on you. I started watching with season 4, which I think is widely regarded as a pretty meh season. But it was the same deal, I had heard it was the
best.reality.show ever and it just didn't live up to the hype. But it is probably my favorite reality show now. I'd have a tough time if I had to
choose between Survivor and TAR, but I would probably end up picking TAR.

Most people on the board hated the Family edition, I really liked it Minus the weavers. Watch them all and judge them all for yourself. I also started with TAR4, but I loved it instantly, maybe because of my Jon/Kelly love and them making it to the end and the leg where they came back against
Chuck/Millie.
That being said TAR 1, 2, 3 and 5 are definitely the best seasons, especially 3 and 5. Those are two of the best seasons of reality tv ever as far as I am concerned. TAR 9 is the bottom of the barell, I quit watching it halfway through and it was so bad I didnt even start watching TAR10 until it was over since some people told me it was fairly good. TAR 10, 12 and 13 have been pretty good, and I too am enjoying this season more than last. |
