I told y'all many pages back that the Free Republic posters are completely insane. They are the ones still pushing the Obama's birth certificate is a fake story.

The good news is that though they have thousands of members, they have no idea how to channel their energies into RL efforts that produce results. Unlike many prominent Democratic blogs, they don't raise money for campaigns. They don't organize GOTV efforts.

They do however have a daily prayer thread for Bush. And prayers for Republican candidates.

They are batshit crazy, but powerless.

In all, 108 men have received at least one electoral vote for President (including all votes cast before 1804), though technically Horace Greeley received 3 posthumous electoral votes in 1872 which were disqualified by Congress. William Jennings Bryan holds the record for most career electoral votes without having ever served as President. Norman Thomas holds the record for most elections on the ballot without receiving a single electoral vote (six elections, each with at least 0.1% of the popular vote). H. Ross Perot holds the record for most career popular votes without receiving a single electoral vote. John Tyler, Andrew Johnson, and Chester A. Arthur never received an electoral vote in any election though still served as President.

How did Reagan get electoral votes in 1976? Ford was on the ballot. Reagan didn't win any states in 1976.
