But haven't you always despretly wanted to see more of your favorites in any way? Hell, I'll go watch something for people who I don't even like. I started watching wrestling because of Ashley M, for example No. Because my loyalty has been to the show, not the people. Once the show is over, there are new Survivors. The old ones aren't Survivors anymore. Now they're just fans like the rest of us. |

Well, I don't see why it has to be one or the other. I love the show, but there are people on it who I become huge fans of that I would love to meet in
real life.

For the first ASS, they had a surplus of worthy older white women. Susan, Tina, and Kathy beat out Helen.
Ironically for S9-S15, there were virtually no worthy older white women to cast. I can't see Helen doing well in Shii Ann's spot. Richard and Lex wouldn't get along with her, and her friendship with Jeanne S6 would put her at odds with Jenna M. |

Yeah how would Rich and Lex not get along with Helen? Rich and Lex get along with everyone. And Helen gets along with anyone who is a hard worker.
That being said, I think it's a good point about the older white women demographic. It's just a shame that Sue didn't turn down the invite, so Helen could have taken her place. |

You have to keep in mind how they were trying to cast All-Stars. They had 3 tribes with certain roles they clearly wanted to have filled (with Chapera being
the only anomaly in regards to the guys):
2 older guys - Rudy & Rupert/Lex & Richard/Tom & Rob M (Not that Rob M is old, but that's why I said Chapera was the anomaly) 2 younger gals - Jenna L & Jerri/Jenna M & Shii-Ann/Amber & Alicia 1 younger guy - Ethan/Colby/Rob C 1 older gal - Tina/Kathy/Sue So Helen was competing for one of only 3 possible All-Star spots, and since Thailand is generally considered one of the less popular seasons, I'm not surprised that she didn't make the cut, which is a shame 'cause I loved Helen. If I had to guess, I would think that Helen would have been cast if Kathy had said no, and probably Teresa (from Africa) would have been cast if Tina had turned it down. Not sure what would have happened if Sue said no. And for what it's worth, I don't know if it's true or not but it's been rumored that there originally wasn't going to be any Thailand representation at all in All-Stars. Supposedly, Christy from Amazon was slated to appear, but she dropped out for some unknown reason. She was apparently replaced by Kelly Goldsmith from Africa who was all packed and set to go. And then, as the story goes, the powers that be realized shortly before production was to start that they needed somebody from Thailand so that all seasons would be represented. This apparently led to Kelly being bumped and Shii-Ann being added last minute. Also, this is supposedly why Kelly later ended up with a job as a casting associate - because they felt bad for bumping her from the ASS cast so close to the start of production. But like I said, as far as I know this is all just rumor. |
