Why? I'm convinced that casual fans of the show care more about actual survival then competitions, and the rest can be spoon fed shit and will still watch
it. Why is there such a focus on pointless competition?

Your wrong. All casual fans care about is challenges. Why do you think Ozzy and Terry are fan favorites? They do spend way too long on them though.

this episode, there was a lot of challenges, but I was very entertained by both challenges, as they were pretty close. There was also a LOT of sugar time, it
definitely would've been pretty balanced if Sugar didn't find the idol.

This has been going on for awhile, but I felt like tonight's episode wasn't as crammed with the challenges as most episodes are. Like OnlyMatthew said,
there was more Exile Island time with Sugar looking for the idol than there was of the challenges.

This episode actually had some interesting challenges for once. I'll volunteer to be first in line in a CI-esque episode where you have two very extended
challenges that are exactly the same as ones we've seen the previous week, but tonight?

I agree. I remember way back when they wouldn't show a challenge until like after the first segment and before there was a teaser. I guess they don't
have any other exciting footage of camp life. A lot of the times during Cook Islands I think it was, they would only have one immunity challenge during an
episode and it didn't seem to drag the episode out at all. I really think they could get away with doing reward/immunity challenges as one, during the
tribal stages of the game. It gives us more time to get to know the castaways better based on how they act in camp not on challenges.

Catching fish and building shelter got old during the Outback. Today to keep Survivor alive they just need to focus on the gameshow aspects which includes
basically just the challenges and important/relevant strategizing that affects the outcome.

It depends on the challenges.. if they can all be as intense and fun to watch like the two we had tonight then I wouldn't complain at all.

Agree. Challenges, except for the stupid ones, are more entertaining

Could you explain why? Can you really identify with any of the castaways if the show is dominated by competitions?

The challenges are what initially attracted me to the game of Survivor.
Don't get me wrong I love the strategic gameplay of many survivors but I guess as an athlete I like the competion. |

I understand, there are some challenges that intrigue me, I just think the show has gotten out of wack. WTF will get SEG to make the show right again?

The challenges are, and always have been, the best element of Survivor. It is the only important part of the game. Nothing else matters. The fan favoritism
of players like Stephenie, Tom, Terry, Ozzy, Terry, and Ozzy was completely well-deserved. This show is 100% challenges.
Life = sports, challenges, and OTTP. |

I propose we rename this topic :UNDEREMPHAZATION OF CHALLENGES.

I rewatched the first epi of Pearl Islands and they had like a full 24 minutes or so of air time before they every talked about the challenge. I felt like we
understood each tribe a whole lot better. I enjoy the challenges a ton, but I also would enjoy some time that has depth of character.
Last nights challenges were decent. I'm glad they we're unique, that's always a nice surprise. |
