We've been there five years, time to skip town - unless you really want to keep troops there forever - in which case you'll need way more troops and probably have to occupy more than Iraq.

We are not going to be there forever. Fix things up, set up government, economy, to name a few and have it as ready as possible and move on. Northern Iraq is doing great. They are experiencing unpredented economic and domestic growths, so in this sense, we didn't failed. Shiite is a big challenge, but their loyalty lies with Iran. There is not much we can do other than finish our objectives. Sunni is an interesting case, but ultimately, we will need to give concessions (free schools for Iraqi citizens, etc), so Iraq will have much better opinions of us in a long-run. That is how we succeeded in Vietnam when they turned out that they loved us more than even present-day Russia. Middle East is concern... we are experiencing democray in Iraq, which threatened monarchy and totalitiran controls directly. Free oils? There is no such thing as free lunch.

I doubt it will be exact 16 months, the timeline is around what the Iraqi's want also and it's their country. With McCain I don't think we'll ever leave. We still have bases in Korea. Iraq will be the same if we don't plan to get out.

I don't think it was necessary after she announced she wasn't going to answer the questions. By doing that, she cued everyone into the fact that she wasn't answering them and people started watching for it themselves. That was one of the silliest things she said during the debate (along with the "I've only been at this for 5 weeks" thing). Strategically. As dumb as she is, her advisors are dumber.

It's 2500 for individuals and 5000 for families. Giving people with kids the shaft. If you have three kids (or one) it's going to cost more than twice as much for coverage.
