Race is becoming increasingly irrelevant in America, as it should. For most of us, we really don't care what race you are. It's as important as the color of your hair or how tan you are. We just don't care. Nobody can legally discriminate against blacks when it comes to hiring, promoting, or accepting into an educational institute. On the contrary, current laws tend to only interfere in favor of blacks.

I think most white people are really ready for people to just STFU about race. We're sorry for the things our great-great-great-great-great-great grandfathers did. Can we move on now? Multi-ethnicity is increasing tremendously, and it will continue to make "race" of less and less import. We're making progress, most white people hope we will continue to do so.

Jeremiah Wright has made his living encouraging black people to view white people/America (to Wright theyr'e the same thing) as the enemy. His words may have been relevant--100 years ago. America is trying to move on and Jeremiah Wright is like he stepped out of a Time Capsule from when America really did have serious problems regarding race, begging his congregants to not move on. He's a glorified shit-stirrer, and unfortunately the consequences of his words are not trivial. This man is a problem and he is highly influential.

The thing is, I think Obama really does share the same mindsets that Wright expresses, although less violently one can hope. Obama's campaign line is pretty much a watered down version of Wright's speeches--America is the problem, wealthy white people are the problem, and we must even the playing field. It's all the subconscious acceptance of terrorist rhetoric: America is evil, America is to blame for everybody's problems, America must be destroyed--hypnotizing people into thinking that America is something more than a country. It's just a country. We can change our direction and become better, there is nothing about America itself that is evil and she should not be held accountable for every wrong she's done while nobody talks about the right things.

I think Obama really does subscribe to the extreme leftism expressed by Wright, but he's not stupid and he realized he had to sell himself to the white people and those in the middle politically. I seem to recall a time when part of Obama's image was a conviction that black people were at least partly to blame for their own problems--this was an image he purposely promoted. He took at least six months convincing the white people and independents that he wasn't so far from the middle, and once he convinced them thoroughly of that, he moved back to reassuring the black people that he was far left with them.

We all now have "insight" into how deeply some people divide themselves from the rest of us. Being intimately aware of and supporting their stupidity is NOT a selling point.
