I buy books. And re-read them (novels) and/or consult them (reference books.) These days I usually buy from the library. They have the best prices! Can't
beat $1.00 for hardcover and 25 cents for a paperback.

I buy books me or my son can not wait for, I just got him Brisingr, he wanted me to make a post about it yesterdaty asking if anyone here read it, but I am not
allowed to start posts, sheesh. Actually I buy him tons of books, I get lots at the thrift store or from friends.
I started checking out the old sue graftin at the libary this summer, got to I, I have read the latter part of the alphabet. Reading under the Tuscan Sun now and it is dull, can't believe they made a movie out if it,I keep thinking it will get better, but it hasn't yet.

Yep, I'm a bookaholic and can't help it. In an effort to keep down some of the clutter, I bought a kindle a few months ago. I love the kindle. Among
it's many advantages for me is that it takes the guilt out of buying new releases from my favorite authors. A new release usually costs 9.99.
How long have you had your kindle Kimbob? |

I'm more likely to remember the book's existence when I see it on my shelf from time to time.

with bestsellers/paperbacks I wait until my mom reads them and then take them
I buy and keep the odd classic or food-related book, like Kitchen Confidential, or Grapes of Wrath, or anything by John Irving or Mordecai Richler. |

I buy books from Amazon when they are $3 or $4 because they are getting ready to go to paperback. I re-read most of them and I loan them to my mom and sister
all the time.
Besides, you couldn't pay me to touch dirty library books that God knows how many people have put their grubby paws on. |

Yes. I bought a kindle and love it. Very easy to take your books with you. I still have regular books because the Kindle is new so many books are not on it!

Zippy - how much are books on the Kindle? I assume you have to pay for them like podcasts?

I'm not in the library district so I have to buy books all the time. Luckily there is a used book store in town -- they charge 25% of the original
hardvcover price and 35% of paperback price. They have alot of very recent books. I also go to the library sales.

Yes, I buy books because of school. What a fucking rip off they are!

Buy them because I do re-read them also; it may be a year but I'll end up reading them
I'm also just too lazy to go the library or bookstore. I do the Doubleday - and now that I've read all the current books out there that I wanted - the library is far behind to me, there is no point going there |

I have a lot of books. I buy the one I want and read them when I can and re-read them when the fancy strikes me. Which is why I buy and keep the books I know I
like.

I guess one might ask if there will still be newspapers a decade from now. |

I have this thing about reading used books. Even though I do sometimes buy books at Half-Price Books in my town. I dunno, I just like a fresh book. And I
like to collect them and just have them in case I do want to re-read them.

I do. Give your old ones to your local library or some kids reading program.

I've been going to the library more because (1) a new one opened up a few blocks away and (2) I'm having trouble with storage -- my shelves are stuffed
and I've got boxes and boxes in storage. But newer books are impossible to find in the library (always checked out) and whoever buys books for the library
is screwed up. I was looking for books on the history of the Progressive Era, and they had about 2 shelves of books. OTH, there was an entire aisle (had to be
80-100 shelves) on being gay. And I also tried to find a copy of "The Great Gatsby", and they didn't have it -- not that it was checked out, they
simply don't have the book!
