The fact that they came so close to beating out Andrew & Dan (they were only four or five minutes behind them) despite their mistakes proves they're not THAT stupid! And at least they figured out the Detour on their own, unlike the Frats, who got a lucky handout.

They're pretty ridiculously stupid considering all the mistakes they've made on multiple legs. Face it: they were pretty terrible racers who got lucky many times (the Geeks making the penalty mistake) saved them.
