It's almost impossible to compare Alexis/Natalie to players on the first couple of seasons because the game was so different then. There were no idols/excessive backstabbing/excessive blindsides/etc. I'm actually going to agree with CSC. Those two were gone at 4 and 5 if Erik didn't win immunity, and if they really were playing the game, then at the F8 they round up Jason and Erik to vote out Amanda and get James to vote for Parvati, and then these "superfans" would be playing more like superfans.

ETA: If they really wanted to take out Amanda, then why would Alexis be stupid enough to send her to exile to find the idol, especially if she knows there's a good chance that James would be taken out due to his injury.

Alexis did make the mistake of sending her to Exile (which is not Natalie's fault at all, don't give me that shit), but you're saying that she was supposed to expect James to be taken out of the game? For real? This is an injury that James had had for over a week, and he was still playing. There's no way either of them expected him to have to leave the game.

First of all, when did I ever insinuate that sending Amanda to exile was Natalie's fault? I was making the case that it was just another bad decision made by Alexis. With regard to James being medevaced, either one of them would have been stupid not to think it was a possibility because James told them that the medics told him that if his injury didn't get better by the next day then he would be taken out. But that hardly even matters, because James wouldn't have voted against Amanda anyways. With him in the mix, there are now a majority of people (Parvati, Cirie, James, and Amanda, herself) who will never vote for Amanda. Alexis and Natalie SHOULD hvae done some damage at the final 8. Regardless of whether or not they liked Jason, he had an HII and he trusted Natalie more than anyone else. All they have to do is talk to Jason and Erik, get them to vote for Amanda, tell James they're voting for Parvati (and James voted for Parvati that night) and then get Amanda out of there. Or even simpler, tell Jason to use his HII. They had a golden oppurtunity to take control of the game, and they missed it.

Now with all that said. I'm not going to deny that Natalie was a good player (Alexis not as much). Natalie was largely responsible for the Erik blindside, which was probably the most difficult blindside to pull off in survivor history, she managed to get Jason back on her side at the F8, and she outlasted 16 other people. For all of these, there's definitely something to be said, but I don't think that she's top 40 material.
