I never liked Ozzy ever since he decided throwing challenges was a great idea...and I'd probably like James more if I could've understood him.

I tend to notice though thatollee the asual audience will eat up whatevers thrown at them. Greg and Colleen were good friends, but the editing said it was a romance, so the casual viewers ate that up. Richard was viewed as a "snake" despite playing clearly within the rules, because the editing implied that he was wrong for booting Gretchen. And that is just for starters. First, let me get this straight. I like Ozzy, always have and still do, but not for winning challenges, I just like him and he seems like a nice guy and it is always good to see someone skilled and intelligent on the show. I always knew he was full of himself, we saw it on CI, but people didn't care about his temper tantrum at the mutiny because we are 'supposed' to root for the underdogs. I don't root for underdogs just because. On the world stage, Islamic Fundamentalists are underdogs, should we root for them? I doubt people root for underdogs just on principle. Either people have a seriously ontrarian view on the show then I do, or they view Survivor as entertainment to pass the time, nothing to get invested in. In the latter case, you might as well root for the underdog because it adds a bit of suspense I suppose. In the former example, well the mass of people who watched Outback and then stopped watching Survivor did so out of misplaced expectations I think. People view Survivor, too many of them in fact, for something it is not. It is not a genuine survival contest in a strict sense, it is not a morality play, it is not a sporting event and it is not trash. It is an edited for time reflection of human nature |

Oh, because they are all from more recent seasons. The more recent seasons emphasize the game and not the castaways themselves. I don't like manipulative
editing of any kind, that is why I brought up Borneo examples.

I don't think any of us were "coerced" for liking castaways like Yau Man and Cirie

We've definitely been oversold by some people like Stephenie or Rupert but I would not include Yau Man or Cirie either

They were all big, very entertaining characters on their own. I wouldn't say coersion through editing had anything to do with it. So I too wonder why in the world you're singling them out. A much better example to make would be Terry, who was a total asshole but was sold as Mr. American Hero on the show.

I singled them out because of the editing. I could of mentioned anyone, but with the exception of Cirie(Who I've always respected as a stratagist and seems
like a generally nice person-I just never bought into into the ZOMG shes utterly amazing and could beat all the winners blindfolded), every one of their
popularity spikes can be attributed to that ridiculous HII or overemphazation of challenges. Terry is included on that list, just didn't mention it, no
need to read further into it. I like all of them, but that is beause I'm very lenient, if you notice, I only flame those whom I find truly dispicible(The
ASS jury, Stephenie, the Friendshit on BB6, Dick, etc). I just don't like it when the editing tells you to root for someone, anyone at all. I pointed out
recent astaways because the produers have shifted the game from a social experiment and adventure to an out and out game show/sporting event

Again, Ozzy admitted he is washed up physically now compared to when he was younger due to injuries. So S16 Ozzy = McDonalds Ozzy? S13 Ozzy = Applebees
Ozzy? S10 Ozzy = Filet Mignon Ozzy.
