I saw this at the movies last night. I'm glad I did after I watched that hideous movie version. If you are gae and a RENT-head, go see it. I believe there
are only 3 days left.

I think one of the main issues of the movie version is they used a lot of original cast members. So the movie looked stupid to see 40 year olds pretending
to be younger whining about not having a job. So I am glad it wasn't the original cast... Have you seen Daphne lately? **shudder**

but they didnt have to be 20 somethings. the mistake of the movie was too much emphasis on the parents and making them seem juvenile in other ways

Saw it yesterday. Absolutely brilliant. If you have the chance to see it today, drop everything and do it!
The cast, with two exceptions, is just as good as the original. The camera work is quite solid, considering they were filming a live performance and had to be unobtrusive. As far as I'm concerned, they can burn every copy of the movie and release this on DVD. It's a remarkable archive of a show that broke new ground for Broadway and remains unequaled since. The producers were probably making a sound financial decision when they decided to close the B'way production, but no other film, play, or musical has more accurately captured the improbable mixture of doom and hope that permeated the post-Reagan, pre-protease inhibitor NYC. |

p.s. No Frenchie. :-( But there's a curtain call with members of the original cast (including Daphne Rubin Vega, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, and Sarah Jessica
Parker's brother, who stands next to Anthony Rapp during the reprise of "Seasons of Love").
