A few comments in general about Randy.

Although I first speculated that Randy will be the narrator, I changed my mind after a second watch of the first week episode(s). And Ep 3 solidifies my belief. Although "narrator" doesn't have a specific edgic definition, it's pretty much an accepted term among us. To me the classic narrator was Austin. His confessionals allowed the average viewer to understand the dynamics of the game or tribe, what the players were feeling, and (least importantly) what the narrator was feeling. They are the greek chorus, the semi-official 'explainers of the game.'

Although Randy does some of this in his confessionals, they are much more. He associates the basic narrating stuff to his strategy, his emotions, his reactions. He is sometimes caustic, but so far has not been inaccurate. Yes, we can take his observations of his tribesmates as accurate, but with that comes the knowledge of who Randy is and what he's doing. Narrators don't do that.

Was he N? I think so, but in a good way, sort of like Parv's last year (who, I will admit, looked better in a swimsuit.) What I mean by a "good" N is that the viewer completely understands where he's coming from, that he's not cackling with villainous glee or dissing others in conversations. And because his Negativity is almost always reinforced by visual clues in the edit, even those who may not like him end up thinking, "That SOB is right again." Compare/contrast to Ace. His N is from arrogance and a complete disconnect from what's going on around him. His is a classic bad guy edit - arrogant and clueless. He's being edited so when he's voted off the audience will cheer. I'm not quite sure it'll be the same reaction when Randy is booted.

Long-winded point: N doesn't mean bad. I think people are reluctant to give out N's because they think it somehow diminishes the person either as the potential winner or as a human being. Randy was easily a bit N, and that in and of itself doesn't diminish his chances to win. His overall edit for edgic isn't as strong as Marcus, but he simply cannot be eliminated yet.

Other random thoughts - I'm again impressed by the land itself. Where they are in Gabon is beautiful, and I do love the rolling plains where many of the early challenges have take place.

Corrine! A great edit so far for a woman. Sad I have to add those last three words, but to have a true gamer in there is terrific.

Marcus - near perfect edit so far in three eps. This was an ideal cooldown: "He's still here, and we'll show him now and again, but pay attention over this way..." Has it occurred to anyone that the "cooldown" episodes are, in and of themselves, distractions to benefit the leader? They're never invisible and rarely a UTR1. They're just around, with maybe 1 or 2 memorable scenes (fishing, a comment at TC) that makes you remember him - oh, yeah, he's still 1) useful, and 2) smart.

Marcus/Corrine, Randy. I just can't see anyone else right now.
