Where are there genuine spoilers? Are you talking about the vidcaps?

Well, considering that no one knows which eppy which caps are from, and it's impossible to tell anything for sure, I wouldn't really worry to much
about it. And that's all I'm going to say on that subject here, as anything else would reveal more than most people here want to know.

Choosing Kelly was still portrayed as a very bad decision. Not looking good for Kenny... He was not given credit for deciding to boot Charlie, he received
credit for convincing Sugar to join the Fangs and vote out Charlie.. The only other scene with Kenny was the lying about Ace.. It will come back to him, I can
see him being blindsided by Sugar....
I think this was a pretty good recap for Matty, maybe for Corinne and Sugar also. |

Yes Danielle got a got of attention in the S12 recap, but not at Aras's expense. Back in the day of the F2, all finalists got careful attention from
editing, there were no Beckys facing the jury.
So Ken being neglected might mean he doesn't make F3 (cause if he makes it he will likely win). |

He wasn't neglected though. His three biggest moves were highlighted. And they followed the same pattern of the show's editting. He picked Kelly:
Stupid. He got Sugar to boot Ace: Snake. He booted the brains, Charlie: Smart. The Fang tribe has been growing from weak underdogs to worthy players ever
since Ace was booted. Ace was the snake, which means the fall from grace won't happen.

Matty had a great edit yesterday. I've been thinking he's our winner but we'll see

I know this is a long shot but I think it would be hilarious if the editors edited the show knowing the F3 were Bob, Susie and Sugar just to throw off people
who are used to usual editing methods.

yay, I'm back home! Now have to watch Survivor like a normal person should -you know, rewind, scribble a note, rewind, rinse and repeat -come to edgic and
argue.
If you guys are talking about the spoilers at the end of the episode, I'm all for that! It's old school fun. I just don't want those full on boot spoilers/answers at the back of the book. The previews were shown, they're teasers -fair game if you ask me. But not edgic. craig, I've got to agree about Kenny -and yeah, yeah I know it's a recap and so forth -but the pyschology is all wrong to think the winner would be ignored. I think I'm leaning back to my old thoughts of Sugar getting payback -and the scene harkens back to the Matty/Sugar Ethan's star scene. Yeah, yeah I'm a Sugar fan -but a few things bother me. I still think she's the safest bet of making the final three- but Corrine's comment is classic indication that she wins, but I just don't think she does. But even if she didn't win, Sugar's gone the distance, has had almost every single major element revolve around her -so what makes me scratch my head is why she would be burried in the beginning of the first episode- aside from Ace's comment, "every photographer needs a model..." Strange choice to not include anything else regardless of her placement. I agree with many on Crystal's ratings being off. I think we debated this even at the time. It's easy to pinpoint the OTT (N or P if you will) but that's based more on her personality, but a lot of complex crafting was done (again, I believe whether someone is good or bad at the game is irrelevant to a complex edit) But my main problem with Crystal winning is her being ignored in the past two episodes post Marcus' boot -these seem to be crucial game changing episodes-and her only insight has been about Randy being a "troll." |

Whatever is being said about spoilers, please don't mention ANY more details about them here, even in a meta-sense.
Anyway, what jumped out at me in the recap about Matty was the leech scene. He's shown as a) the only one besides Randy to "take the plunge" (possibly symbolic?) and also b) is covered with leeches. Now, isn't that an interesting allegory... |

I just don't read into recaps much at all. The point of the China was was to prove James invincible (think that was the actual word used) and thereby
making the F3 who turned on him look even better by following through with it. The one point here was doubt - Sugar knows Kenny lied. All the more shocking
when she doesn't break apart.
As far as Corrine, remember how Kota was perfect, all in line, dominating. That's why she got the INV - those episodes showed her showing Kota's breaks - everything you'd keep, if she'd won. She doesn't. If she did, we see her setting up her game. Ignoring Kota's fissures was simple storytelling - the lead dogs get beaten by the underdogs. Michael

The only thing I found interesting in the recaps was how in previous recaps for the regular shows it gave Kenny credit for the blindsides but on the recap
episode it showed Crystal as the one behind everything.

OK, it's obviously not saying anything insightful in suggesting that Sugar has had one of the most compelling edits of the season.
We get that she's Eve and that she's been dealing with composite manifestations of good and evil as her edit climaxes.
However, what has been intriguing me for quite a while now is the gender dimension to her edit. Consider these facts:
So, what does this femme-fatale edit for Sugar mean for the eventual outcome? I feel that there are a lot of twists and turns yet to come in Sugar's edit; however, the flirting auction scene ("Would you cuddle a rich man?") does not augur well for Kenny. Especially when taken in conjunction with the last words left to us by Probst about trust.
Men in this Eden should trust this Eve only at their peril. The irony is that one of them will probably win because of it; but only because he has been seen to be espousing love and unselfishness thoughout.

One thing about this recap episode compared to previous recaps: Following the recent trend in editorializing, it went out of its way to tell us what we should think. Hell, there was even a recap within the recap to tell us all they needed us to need to know!
For this reason, if this editorializing trend continues, it may be prudent to place greater store in these recaps from now on.
What do we get from it? Well, reinforcement of what we've been getting told, for one thing. The seminal first episode challenge is highlighted again and, although this time the commentary is about Kota's dominance, the vision is about Matty unselfishly helping out his team.
While Matty's constant stepping out of the game to appreciate nature would have been a bad sign in other seasons, this portrayal becomes a positive when the locale is Eden. Similarly, professing love for a girlfriend is normally not such a good sign for someone's winning chances, in a season of Good v Evil it actually enhances those chances in MB's world.
Phoenix, I think, has noted that the relative absence of greed may be crucial to this season's winner. I concur. Kenny's edited escalating arrogance has begun to match Kota's. The final straw may have been his self-referencing with potential riches at the last episode auction.
There's a lot of water yet to find itself on the other side of the bridge and a lot of that has to do with Sugar's intriguing edit. However, I suspect that this season can now only end in a 'satisfying' victory for 'good'. And the person who has been edited to most personify that concept is Matty. |

craig, I've got to agree about Kenny -and yeah, yeah I know it's a recap and so forth -but the pyschology is all wrong to think the winner would be ignored. I think I'm leaning back to my old thoughts of Sugar getting payback -and the scene harkens back to the Matty/Sugar Ethan's star scene.I totally agree. I could see as the power player in the endgame who basically hands the win to Matty the same way she handed him the cookie. For Sugar, Corinne is mean, Ken lied, they are BAD people, and she will see they don't win. Matty only needs to sit there, be nice, look handsome, and Ssugar will get him the cookie\million. Just like Lill and Sandra or Kim J and Ethan. Such moralistic gameplay will enrage all the strategic jurors as much as her behavior in the cookie scene. I could also see sugar as the femme fatale Eve who plays tough, boots all the men, transforms from Sweetheart to Sweet Dreamz, and loses to bitchy Crystal in F2. |

Good vs Evil | ||

It seems that the good vs evil theme will involve Sugar. Sugar has evolved from innocent, giggling, without any strategy into a key decision maker in many
votes. She has connections with Crystal and Ken, who duped her. She has said that she dislikes Corinne (or did she say she were evil even?). In the first
episode she indicated that she had "good vibes" from Susie and Bob. Recently, she has said positive things about Matty. Additionally, Matty said to
Sugar, "You, me and Susie, final three." Finally, in episode 9, I believe, she indicated she had two options, Crystal and Ken or Matty and Susie OR
another one.
So I suspect that she cut a deal with Bob to help him later IF he played the trick on Randy. He is making up about the immunity idol from the ocean, but I think her idol is the backup in case he needs it. She is kicking up her strategy, and I suspect she will break up Ken and Crystal. Probably Ken will go as he is more manipulative and has more chance to win a cerebral challenge. Then there are two outsiders, Crystal and Corrine who HATE each other. (Corinne also has three alliance mates, whom she remained loyal to, in the jury. No way can anyone risk winning the next four jury members' votes!) Susie, Bob, Matty and Sugar ride this to the end... The pattern this year is that those who had stong alliances and played hard and smart early are voted out early. Ace, Randy, Charlie, Marcus all fit this pattern. Whereas, Sugar underestimates herself. Bob realizes that he might need to start playing the game. Susie has been accused of going whatever way the wind blows. Matty has been stuck in the ghetto all season, and his alliance ties to Susie were just before the first swap. Ken and Crystal are the last really enduring alliance, so it must go. Sugar already has said that she wouldn't mind second place (to Ken), and I think she will find qualities in either Matty or Bob that are more worthy of being second to them. Basically, Sugar will be making some bold move between the angry/sneaky/evil people--Crystal, Ken and Corinne--or the naive and good Susie, Bob and Matty. |
