What would the editing be if Fang came back and won? How would it differ? And if we're talking about not just one person but a group of people rebounding, then don't we need the dynamics with them for the endgame -the good and the bad so there is some tension?
What is the alternative -Corrine, Charlie, Bob and Randy as the final four? If that were the case, we'd probably get more of a confessional early from Charlie or Corrine sizing up the other, something from Randy meeting them one on one, more of Bob wondering if he can trust Corrine and Charlie vs. Ace and Sugar before the swap.
On the rewatch, I just don't see the Onions built up more than being an extension of Kota -Paloma and Kelly were the outcasts (story complete), the duping of Ace led to a story where he's in control and could build on his control of Sugar; Corrine's duping of Bob is only light and might just be a fun indicator that he outlasts them all. Randy tells us he's Yellow all the way -why show this is he stays that way instead of making us worry that he might flip on them by not showing it. The biggest endgame element from the Kota/Onion early scenes that have foreshadowing are with Bob and Corrine sizing up Ace's need to keep Sugar around.
