S17 Gabon Discussion - Onion Fails and Gets Blindsided Once Again

I'll admit, I was curious about what would happen if a tribe lost every single immunity challenge (even though we probably would've seen it in Marquesas had the swap not occurred), but once it happened, nobody wanted to see it happen again. So of course they made sure to guarantee it would in Fiji with the haves/have-nots. What was the point of a pick'em this season? Just for the hell of it? It was a total waste of time. Pick'ems have gotten really old. We've had some variation of them in every single season since ASS except Guatemala (and two before that). In this degree, they are even worse tribe than Ulong themselves. However, Rob and his henchmen already knew that switch will take place, influencing his decision to boot Hunter. In all fairness, it would have been a better season if they did not switch to began with.

It was pick two people, not redivide both tribes. Thailand's was ok, IMO. It would have worked out fine had there not been a fake merge, which was what really screwed up the season. No fake merge with the tribes as picked meant that we would actually see a 5-5 merge (something we haven't really seen since Australia, the outcast twist doesn't count), and it would be interesting to see how it would have played out with Shii Ann flipping the Sook Jais. In all fairness, though, I can understand why they wouldn't want to do a random one, but still, there are ways of doing a tribe swap (like the way Guatemala did it) that are both creative and fair (if a tribeswap can be considered fair at all).

It is one of the worst things to taint Survivor aside from lame-ass purple rock of death. I think it is the best to establish unique version of "pick'em" that will make things even more chaotic yet fascinting... In a hindsight, you MUST pick two players. The first two players who were select need to make immediate decisions to accept or reject offers. Example... Jolanda picked Bobby Jon and Jeff Wilson to join her tribe. Whoever is willing to join her team is accepted while others is being exposed as potential ally. Bobby Jon, due to his rapports with her, naturally accepted while Jeff Wilson preferred to wait until Kim Mullen or Stephanie is selected.

Zhan Hu vs. Fei Long? Saboga vs. Chapera? A lot of the pick 'ems had imbalanced results because people may weird decisions like in Palau or because of twists like in Fiji not because of the selections themselves

Randy complained so much about her in confessionals so that was interesting Randy can also be considered an older guy. He might have realized that once Susie is gone, unless he is really good at the immunity challenges that he could go soon. This is assuming Susie goes soon, because they voted off Michelle and almost voted off Dan. Sometimes people are also afraid to be seen as picking on the old person.

I was confused at first, when I saw her in the woods searching for the idol, I was like "what the hell happened to crossing the lake?" I was glad that they continued to use the idol format they used in S16, with simpler clues leading to several clues before the idol. Paloma was quiet all episode, but I thought she made a strong plea to her tribe, to have them vote out Ace. I actually thought it was going to work...but that didn't happen. It would have been a shock to see Ace go 3rd. Lastly, I think G.C. needs to go. He sucks. He quit in the 1st challenge when he stopped digging. He quit as leader, and today he obviously quit again in the challenge. He was just standing there. I know Paloma is on a different tribe, but she didn't quit, as she was being dragged like a rag doll through the dirt, she kept kicking, and made an attempt to put up a fight, although it made no difference for her...at least she didn't quit. G.C. made no effort, and I hope he goes next.

Before it was completely unfair and you had to be lucky to be sent when the right amount of clues were there. Now everyone has an equal shot.

The 1 person advantage and Stephenie mega fans Judd and Cindy, who had nothing whatsoever to lose by backstabbing the Nakum people who kept them on the outside pre-switch were GIVEN to Stephenie to ensure she got very far. Can you say 'rigged'? :P I'm happy that people other than alpha males can get the HII now, but the fact that its so insanely easy to find now really bugs me.
